ios 14.2 carplay issues

I have an iPhone 8 plus and just recently upgraded to ios 14.2. When I connect my phone to CarPlay it keeps connecting and disconnecting. I bought a new cable to make sure that was not the issue and it did not fix the problem. I can no longer control the music through the buttons on the steering wheel and when I try to control it through the radio the screen says CarPlay not responding. Anyone having this issue with the upgrade? How did you fix this or can it be fixed?

Thank you. I disabled assistive touch and that solved the issue. I wish Apple fully tested their updates before sending them out. There’s no excuse for an update to cause a problem that wasn’t there before. I have never had a problem with using assistive touch with car play until the update.

Dear all, I’m facing exactly the same problem. I test with another iPhone with ios 14 and the problem don’t occur. The problem start to happen with the 14.2 IOS upgrade.

We understand your iPhone disconnects from CarPlay while connected since updating your iPhone. We'd be happy to go over some information with you.

We'd like you to try the following steps in order:

If you have a case on your device, we'd like to have you remove the case and test the issue. Do you notice the same behavior without the case?
Forget the stereo from Settings > General > CarPlay > [stereo name].
Forget the iPhone from the settings (stereo user guide for instructions).
Rename the iPhone in Settings > General > About > Name.
Reset network settings on the iPhone - This resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.
If wired CarPlay, test with a shorter Apple approved Lightning cable.
If no shorter cable is available test with another Apple approved Lightning cable.

I have assistive touch off. I notice that it will be fine until I try to run multiple things at once like navigation and pandora or music. Then it goes to cutting in and out or not responding.

I have also tried a hard reset and that hasn’t helped the issues either.

I have the same issue; CarPlay loads fine but not able to use the knob to "click" or "enter" the selected item. Once disabled the Assistive Touch, it resolved the issue. More details can be found in the following thread:

Since upgrading to IOS 14.2, major issues with CarPlay. I disconnected multiple times, deleted both CarPlay and BT, reinstalled without success.

My wife and I have same phone (iPhone 11Max) and both are ios 14.2. Her phone worked CarPlay in my vehicle, mine didn’t. The only difference was BT.

I deleted BT off vehicle, forgot BT on phone, removed CarPlay and rebooted. CarPlay works perfectly now connected via charging cable.

my iPhone X is also disconnecting from apple car play . It will work again by un plugging the cable. I am on ios 14.2. My iPhone XR is working fine as it not updated to ios 14.2

I have an iPhone XR. Since the ios upgrade, some carplay programs don't load and sometimes I get no audio with phone calls. VERY annoying. My phone is tethered to CarPlay with a new short cord.

I turned off and deleted my VPN app, and CarPlay worked just fine again. (iPhone 8, ios 14.2, usb cabel carplay)

The issue has not been resolved in IOS 14.3. Phone keeps disconnecting from the wire as well, Apple is working on a fix
