Health App keeps lowering volume of BT speaker and earbuds to 50%

Since the latest update, my iPhone keeps on lowering volume when listening to musing both with bluetooth earbuds and speakers. I get a notification telling me I've exceeded the limit and that volume has been reduced. The health app tells me that this cannot be disabled. Is this really a "feature" that cannot be turned off? I'm frustrated beyond belief.

I just did the steps and it worked, got them from Apple , turned off in Settings, you can prevent changes to the maximum headphone volume. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Reduce Loud Sounds, then select Don’t Allow.

Make sure screen time is active and then follow the steps

Same issue with my FM transmitter. iPhone keeps telling me I have exceeded my weekly audio volume limit, even though it cannot even know the actual volume level which is set on the radio.

The fact that this "feature" cannot be turned off makes it annoying even more. Apple's assumption that they know what's good for the users better than the users themselves, without thinking of any of these edge cases, seems pretty arrogant to me.

Is there anything that can be done about this issue?

I posted a reply earlier which was deleted due to it being "speculative", so here's the non-speculative facts. The problem lies in Headphone Notifications, a hearing safety feature implemented in 14.2 update.

Settings>Haptics and Sound>Headphone Safety is where the option to turn this off would normally be. Unfortunately, Apple has decided to not allow users from certain regions to turn it off.

Apple is citing "regulations and safety standards" of these regions as the reason, but that isn't a plausible explanation because there are no such regulations in my region and Apple is the only company implementing anything like this.

The "Reduce loud sounds" option is a different thing and doesn't prevent the notifications from being shown and lowering volume to 50%.

To put it simply, there is nothing we can do about it. And I'm very frustrated by this, because this feature is unspeculatively interfering with normal function of the phone. Not only do different headphones attain different loudness at the same volume level, but higher volume is necessary for speakers to be heard in a room.

Same here. Volume goes down while I’m riding my motorcycle. Phone is in my pocket with max volume and it’s connected to helmet headset. Headset volume set to medium. Extremely dangerous to fiddle around with the phone trying to bring volume up while you are riding motorcycle in traffic. I will also argue that responsibility for protecting my hearing falls on me and not on you Apple. I’m 42 years old. I Don’t need a nanny. By “helping me” to protect my hearing you are putting me at risk of traffic accident.

O Apple turns down my bluetooth car speaker meaning I need to fiddle with my phone while driving to get the volume back up?

its standard to have volume on full for the source, not turn the amplifier up more for sound quality .

same story when I’m using my portable Bluetooth speaker- at least there’s no risk of crashing and dying in that scenario- just annoying when I’m showering and have to keep turning my iPhone up!

seriously Apple please add an option to turn off soon.

Everyone here moaning about having to change it in your car.

I have a 6 month old baby that's just taken 40 minutes to rock to sleep with a speaker on white noise connected to bluetooth on my phone.

10 minutes later I finally allow myself a cup of tea.

Quiet.....

Too quiet. Wheres the white noise?!

Baby starts BLARTING.

Now I have just had to start the nap time procedure all over again for the 3rd friggin time because I cannot get it loud enough to keep him asleep!!!!

Cheers apple!!!!

apple need to allow users to decide whether something is too loud or not. I listen to a lot of spoken word & it’s crazy that the volume is turned down against my will. It needs sorting as it is highly frustrating. There is nothing in UK law that tells a company to have this feature so Apple are effectively imposing something which takes away people’s right to decide.

SAME! It’s so annoying! I only usually listen to music on my iPhone when I’m driving when it’s connected to my car stereo through Bluetooth. The volume on the iPhone is turned up but regulated at a manageable level through the stereo unit itself. Such a stupid feature, I have no idea how this made it past product development smh.

I waited as long as I could before doing the update, which I just did today and with in 5 hours I exceeded the volume! Now to me being a person who is partially deaf the volume Apple lowers it to is barely audible to me. So is Apple now saying people with hearing disabilities can not use their product because the volume we may need exceeds their standards because there is no Legal precedent in this Region for carriers or manufacturers to forcefully adjust volume for there customers.
