iPhone 12 screen brightness issue

My iphone 12 pro brightness is inconsistent. Its dims or gets darker screen when its at max and after i sleep my screen and wake it again, it gets much much brighter.

As if it was on 25%. Its seems to me like a lag or something of the sort happens to the screen. Any suggestions?

It s happening to me when I am under the sun for 30-40 minutes. Gets significantly darker without any reason (brightness settings are all max and manual with True Tone disabled). If I go to the brightness menu settings still brightness is at max level but I cannot restore brightness at this level and the screen is significantly darker

It’s a glitch with its hardware I believe. With the new 5G speeds the design and hardware can’t keep up and causes to over heat internally. It’s 64 degrees and is acting like I’m on the beach in direct sun! Apple make it right. Find all those faithful customers that bought your defective product and make it right. U aren’t worth trillions without us.

I have reported this as a bug through the Feedback Assistant. Each of you should do the same.

I have noticed that it does seem to happen more when I am on 5G and the battery is lower than 70%. Right before I went to reply this thread I was having the issue. When it looked like I hit about 90% power level the screen went back to bright.

Have same problem iPhone 12 Pro Max. After numerous Apple chat reps told me I had “imported a bug while downloading an iOS update via unsecured Wi-Fi” I finally went the local Apple Store and had them wipe the device and reinstall new 14.4.2 directly from their own Mac. Nope... still have same screen brightness problems. Just today it went almost completely black. I had to go into a restroom at work and turn off the lights to see the barely lit screen. Otherwise I had no other way to see the swipe icon to turn off the device. Supposedly the new iOS 14.5 launches today. I’m going straight back to the same store to download it. If not fixed I’m leaving with a new replacement. Let you know.

I enjoy iPhones. I have the latest best iPhone 12pro. However, I’m a disabled Vet who is slightly visually and hearing impaired. I battle constantly in trying to keep my iPhone bright enough. I also battle incessant warnings to turn down the volume. I literally feel harassed by my phone which is just ridiculous. I can no longer support your product with this approach to business. Alas, I am at a loss, because I love everything else about Apple products. Just crazy frustrated in hitting a wall with the brightness and sound chastisement. Please consider my feedback for those like me with sensory disability. Thank you for you time and attention. James

These steps didn’t work. Plus they messed up the tonal appearance of my screen. Everything got a bluish cast and that messed with trying to edit photos. My phone gets so hot and goes dark within minutes of turning it on. Two store trips, they did total reset which put everything back to original problem.

As a registered disabled Veteran-person with hearing loss and vision impairment, I had trouble with auto-settings, but experienced a bit of improvement from the latest upgrade after posting a complaint per: twitter. My issue is with uncontrollable auto-dimming and uncontrollable auto-volume warnings as a disabled client. Otherwise, I am happy with everything else about my iphone12pro. It helps me keep track of so much with all its "bells & whistles" for organizational purposes. Vocalizing the issue publicly is also to make mention of others who might have the same difficulty in relation to one's personal state-of-health. Thank you for having a means of passing along customer responses. Maintaining control over automation is a true concern for some of us over others. Personally, I just can't have power over sensory control settings taken from me - to remain satisfied. I hope work continues to improve all the time with apple products.

I've experienced this issue both on my iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone 12 PRO. I Called costumer service they adviced me reset my general settings. For me its a huge mistake. If I want to use my phone with full brightness I must use it exact settings that I made on setting including deactivated auto modes (true tone, brightness etc.) However I cant use it. Its was not helpful experience for me. I am really upset about that apple issue. Where is freedom of my desires?

I have tried everything and nothing works, it’s a hardware defect, I don’t think it can be fixed, it sucks cause I fly my drone with this phone and I’m outside in the sun most of the time, hard to see when it happens, so now I have an expensive drone I can’t fly cause of this defect
