My iPhone 12 Pro's camera is not focusing properly. It doesn't focus when it is around 8-10 cm away from the object for a close up shot. I will need to move it further away to focus then go back in for the shot.

Well, I had a nice visit at the Apple Genius Bar today. My iPhone 12 Pro Max’s camera could not focus on fine print at close range - like it had no macro field of focus at all. My Apple Genius ran a diagnostic on my iPhone & that came back with a recommendation to do a FORCE RESTART of the iPhone:
Press & release the volume up button, then press & release the volume down button, then press & hold the power button until the apple logo appears.
Like magic, my iPhone now focuses in closeup macro mode perfectly.
You put a finger on lidar, then on 2.5x cam. - and..... mirackle doesnt happen :( , nothing happens. When covering 2.5cam, -the same view, only digitaly zoomed from x1 cam. Same 13-14cm minimal focusing distance. What for then x2.5? Looks like lies...
apple, i want my money back! Very very dissapointed! Total downgrade! I even would be happy to change my max to 11 max. But i cant, as phone , and sim
are activated. No any word in presentation from apple about this “ new f@ lenses upgrade”. No sorries, no worries..
Also have the same issue on my 12 pro max. When I chatted apple CS they said that it is because of the new larger sensor of pro max. They advice to used 2.5x instead if u want to take a closer shot. I came from xs max and i dont have any problem with it except ofcourse no night mode and ultrawide but still the camera is good no complaints. But 12 pro max is disappointed.
Okay. After lengthy experimentation. You can improve this situation by going to settings - camera by turning off several Auto Settings. Look at this. Experiment. I was finally able to shoot in macro.
Same issue here, iPhone 12 Pro Max user. For me, it seems like it is not focusing even on the frontal camera, when a little bit closer to the subject.
Hmmm- I think you should check if that’s consistent with the actual EU laws.
Or you could ask for exchange for iPhone 12 pro which doesn’t have the same limitation the Max has.
I have the exact same problem, and I’ve been using the iPhone cameras for many many years. Please stop saying it is operator error and fix the problem. It’s very annoying!
same issue and this is extremely frustrating since my camera also experiences severe lens flare. Holiday photos have not turned out well at all. I’m very disappointed.
