iPhone 12 Pro camera not focusing properly

I still have this issue as of MARCH 29th 2021, Samsung s20+5G had the same issue and I moved back to Apple due to that and other reasons and I am quite frustrated that after paying X amount of dollars for a new iPhone it won’t do what my cell phone could do in 2015. Idk really frustrating. The front facing camera had the same issue for me.

Also it will focus in if I am the same distance to my hand with good lighting at 7x zoom or so but when moved to any other object it goes to crap. I don’t think this is a hardware limitation but rather an inability to fix a bug in their software

@ges8ges perhaps, but this bug was not disclosed and is a blocker. I bought the 12 pro max largely on the camera hype, and often take extreme closeups. I would never have purchased it given this limitation. The phone should fixed or recalled.

@WestCoaster2 Agree 100%. Had this issue been disclosed, I never would have purchased this phone and would have kept my 11 Pro Max until a fix was in place. It’s fraud and misleading what Apple has done.

I want to know the same...what is the fix...paying this much for a phone with the expectation of a great camera and having this issue is not okay!!! I also don’t like that the little focusing square doesn’t work at all. How do we collectively make this a well known and big issue???

Yes, I was going to mention it earlier, the color is terrible on my 12 pro, especially skin color in people of color. The screen had a brown tint when I received it, then they fixed it with an update, I have other issues with my phone (a single line of text messages disappear and leaves an empty blank space plus more) so I’m over this phone.

Force Restart was put there by Apple for one reason: as a way to reboot a frozen, unresponsive iPhone. This is the reason you'll find nothing, nada, zero posted by Apple on its support boards in terms of Force Restart being useful for anything other than that one purpose. No "purging stubborn glitches" or anything else because there isn't anything else. What Force Restart does, quite simply, is abruptly cut the power between the battery and the iPhone. That's it. And then, when the power gets restored, it allows for a reboot process that is the same as if you had restarted the phone normally. (Which, of course, you can't do if your phone is frozen.) You can read more here about the Force Restart process and why it's not advisable except when necessary--it's the equivalent of abruptly pulling the plug on your desktop computer as a way of rebooting it. Thank you for fully explaining this issue and why it happens. I originally thought it was an problem with my phone and seeing lots of others commenting, assumed it was a glitch.

Shame Apple weren’t more transparent when releasing this information or now it’s obviously an issue for some users, giving the option to replace with a model more suitable.

Same here. I got my iPhone 12 pro thinking that I could take better pictures of birds and close ones to objects and it doesn't work at all like it has been promoted. I took a video of this past Super Full moon and the video wasn't good as I used to have them from my old iPhone.

iPhones are not cheap and now the new versions are not taking pictures or videos as the past versions. I would like to know if Apple will do something about it.

That has been my question too about Apple not knowing it before releasing and not explaining about it in the promotional video(s). I mean, they know, so I think Apple should make a better version and allow exchange to all the the people experience this issue. I held off on purchasing a camera in anticipation of the iPhone 12 Pro working in this capacity. Now I will have to but a camera for this purpose. Literally, my old iPhone worked better than this version and I'm disappointed because a professional camera costs more or the same as the new iPhone versions.

Me too, SO annoyed as I was umming about the cheaper iPhone 12. The colour rendition is diabolical, I chose it because I thought it would given me better pictures than the iPhone 7 I have and it doesn’t even give me as good as 😡

I got new iphone 12 pro max. It has most digusting camera in all series. They have looted thier customers. Their is so much distortion in images. They come out all blurrrrr and close range photos dont focus properly.

I hope they solve the glitch orelse aint buying thier product again.

Having the same issue with my iPhone 12 Pro running iOS14.7.1 doesn't focus when it is around 8-10 cm same as

itsjojojoei it's shocking to see my Pixel 3 XL from 2018 can take a better close picture then my 12. Maybe adding a manual focus to iOS might help .

My iPhone 13 camera is not focusing properly. It doesn't focus when it is around 8-10 cm away from the object for a close up shot. Is everybody with an iPhone 13 experiencing this problem? I went to my local store which diagnosed my device and they said that there is no problem. But I am very suspicious. So does anybody else have this problem?

People on another forum are saying it’s a software issue for some users, I find it very strange.
