Does the iphone 12 scratch easily?

i have my iphone 12 here with me still in the box, i’m scared to open it as a quick google search has resulted in many people saying their iphone 12’s have scratched really easily. As i’ve payed £799 i don’t want to scratch it, any answers?

Your prerogative, of course.

But be aware that the Samsung forums are full of customers complaining how easily their screens scratch, and Samsungs come with a screen protector preinstalled from the factory.

Corning, and the industry as a whole, worked together to move to a glass that is somewhat easier to scratch but is much more shatter-resistant.

You can add a screen protector to protect against scratches; there’s nothing you can apply to a screen to meaningfully protect it from shattering.

I carnt believe i haven’t had it for 2 wks yet all my other apple device have not had trouble with. Apple as definitely put a older screen on it , but saying that my two iPhone 3GS have not got a scratch on them not even my iPhone 5s or 6s plus not even my iPads what’s going on? This latest iphone meant to be the best ? I agree with you Suttonnh they have cut corners with the screen

This is my 4th iPhone and it's the first time that I have scratches in my sreen. I open my new iPhone 12 last saturday and I've dedicated a cople of hours to transfer my information from my iPhone X, after that I notice that the display of my new Iphone 12 has serveral (at least 6) scratches. I revised carefully all the iPhone when I opended it. I was not exposed to any impact or rubbing that explains the scratches. I'm so disapointed and I feel cheated.

@Suttonh. I agree with you. Apple should have informed the consumer about the vulnerability of the new glass screen.

Hopefully, they’ll take action after reading all these negative comments. Going forward........there will obviously, be a lot of scratched screens when they inspect for trade-ins so, they will need to take their, “ failure to inform,” into consideration.

80% of the people will immediately attach a screen protector, since they are not careful with their stuff. They know better for themselves. But when the screen breaks that's when they start complaining through forums about the screen. I reckon most people here who complain are not used to having the iphone scratch so easily. There is a huge difference with this phone and others, since this one already scratches at contacts with other soft materials.

I hope I have been in line with the terms of use since these seem to favor Apple. They used to be customer focused.

I believe they’re trying to rectify this very bad situation- as I said, once I had my screen replaced I was told that this scratch incident should no longer occur.🤔

I’m being very careful, thoughts it seems this screen is of a better quality material. It’s smoother and more glass-like than the screen that came with the phone that scratched. We shall see. I’ll definitely post a comment here if my new screen ever incurs such serious damage a second time.

I just got this brand new IPhone 12. Brought it home in the box, took it out, never left the house. It sat on the table and on my nightstand face up. I noticed a scratch next day. I’ve had iPhones for years. 4S, 6S XR. No scratches, no cracked screens, nothing! What kind of cheap plastic has Apple used on the 12 and 12 Pro? Don’t tell me these are the same scratch resistant screens as past phones. Not true! I’ve got an appt Monday @ Apple store. I want a new phone.
