Bluetooth headphones crashing apps

Hi all, new user with a 12 pro here. I purchased a set of generic wireless headphones (that should definitely work with this phone). They connect fine, however when playing anything through YouTube or Apple Music, the apps hang on opening, Freeze and ultimately crash. Tested on other devices with no issues. Disconnect the headphones, apps function fine. My question is, is it likely an error with the phone, or the headphones?

Hello Ash_W8099,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand your iPhone is unresponsive, when you pair a set of Bluetooth headphones.

Having a fully functional device to complete your daily tasks is important, and we'd like to help.

To help troubleshoot this behavior, we recommend to follow steps one through three in this helpful article: If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

In addition, you can turn off the Bluetooth feature on your iPhone and turn the feature back on. Then test to see if you continue to experience the same behavior. To perform this step, please go to Settings > Bluetooth.

Please keep us posted with the results.

Kind regards.
