MacBook screen randomly turns dark- have to restart to get it to turn back on

My MacBook screen has been randomly turning dark. It is not a brightness issue, because the sounds, keyboard lights and touch bar work just fine. If I use the Touch Bar to adjust brightness when it goes dark, it doesn’t do anything. I even changed the settings for the screen to never turn off to test this and it still goes dark. I have to restart the Mac when this happens and it happens at random times depending how I adjust the laptop or my screen. There have been issues with restarting it too, being sluggish and requiring multiple resets, being plugged into a charger, to work. Help?

Make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service after the stores re-open. If you need to find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple. Also, see How to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Distributor (AAD). You may also get Apple authorized service at a local Best Buy or contact Apple Support for more options.
