iPhone 12 Pro Notifications with no sound or alert of any kind

I set up my new phone however I don't get any notifications to create a sound or haptics when I receive them. I've reset my settings after getting frustrated, restarted the phone, made sure to select sounds for each notification, set the notification preview to 'always', made sure it's not on mute and the volume is up yet I can't get my phone to tell me that anything has come in until I look at the home screen only to find i've received a bunch of notifications.

I get calls on the phone just fine but texts, discord, emails, etc. NO notification that anything has been received. I've spent hours pouring through the settings and nothing helps.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

My hubby got his iPhone 12 Pro on Saturday. He wanted to change the tone for my text messages. When I sent him a test text NO SOUND! (NOTE: neither of us own an Apple Watch.). I spent an hour checking/changing every sound setting I could think of. Finally, I opened the TEXT app, then swiped left on my name. Saw the problem immediately. The big blue MUTE box didn’t have the diagonal line through it, meaning MUTE was enabled for ALL MY TEXT MESSAGES. I hit the MUTE button, the diagonal line appeared. Sent him a test text. WE HAVE SOUND!

I have been to the Apple store. I was just actually there three days ago. They reset my whole phone which also resets the Apple Watch. While I was in the store we finally got it to work. Once I got to my car and It all stopped working and back to no tones for

texting or watch nor iPhone 12

pro. This is extremely frustrating. I’ve been on with tech support with Apple and Verizon. Then to the Apple store had to make an appointment take time off from work. Then to the Verizon store. Verizon nor Apple can fix this issue an Apple is not chiming in with a fix for an update for this.

extremely frustrating. Apple if you’re reading any of this please find a fix. I would also like the choice like before, but I can do haptics on my wrist and still hear my phone tones For texts and everything else.

I am having the same issues— my iPhone 12 Pro no longer has sound for incoming calls or texts. I have tried everything suggested here. Am currently trying to install the 14.4.1 update, hoping it might resolve. The only odd thing I’ve noticed is that under the DND menu, even though DND is off, under “Silence” I can’t get rid of the requirement to have either “Always” or “While iPhone is locked” checked. Since my phone is usually locked, I wonder if that is the issue. Notifications are on and set, sound is set...I can’t think of any other causes. I did recently turn on WiFi calling, but don’t see how that is related. Suggestions?

A lot of people are having this same issue and it’s crazy that it hasn’t been addressed by Apple yet. That’s just very poor business and a slap in the face of those of us who have paid so much for the phone. But some people are saying if you turn off notifications on your Apple Watch then it all works well but that’s not a solution to the problem. The phone and the watch are supposed to work together. So no, I will not turn off notifications on my iPhone just to appease the idiots that failed at their responsibilities to the masses.

This did work on my iPhone 12 mini, in as much as my phone now pings when I get a message, and while the message is visible on my iWatch if I go into my messages, I no longer receive an alert on the watch. So, it appears you can be notified on your watch or on your phone but not both??? Any chance there will be a fix to allow us the option to be notified on both devices?

JC9099,

Thank you for your persistence--it solved my problem too! I wasn't getting text notifications from my best friend...and only my best friend. I had called AT&T...no help, called Apple...no help, went to the AT&T store...no help, and I had tried any and all online fixes I could find. If you hadn't persisted and gotten through to the Apple supervisor, I would still be pulling my hair out. Thank you!

I can’t believe I got suckered into this phone. As if the XS Max wasn’t my lesson? How do you not get a Fox for this after 8 mos? How? It has nothing to do with my Bluetooth. iMessage on or off doesn’t change the issue. Turning off my Apple Watch has nothing to do with it. It’s a software problem they need to fix already. I’m ready to go back to Android at this point. The last two, extremely pricey iPhones I’ve owned were glitchy pieces of crap.
