iPhone 12 Pro Notifications with no sound or alert of any kind

This has apparently been a problem with iPhone 12 since last November! I’m disappointed that Apple hasn’t fixed this issue 3 months later. I’ve tried all the suggestions to no avail. Still no notification of texts arriving!

Same here with iPhone 12. No sound notifications with texts. Tried all solutions previously mentioned and the apple support person said, we’ll try a different phone OR the problem could be your iCloud backup so you have to erase and start with a blank phone...loosing EVERYTHING (contacts, photos, music, apps, the works). Wow what great support for an $800 phone that doesn’t do what a free one could accomplish. Thanks apple.

I’m sorry but you referred to “text app”....im assuming just the icon (bubble looking thing), when I swipe left it simply goes to a screen that says “all messengers, known senders, unknown senders”. When I swiped on a specific name it ended up deleting the thread with a yellow pin next to it (yes I swiped left vs right). Any ideas or clarification?

Where are you swiping left? On the actual message on the messenger app? I don't see the option you're referring to. I don't believe this is a solution ... the thing should work with blue tooth on, synced macbook, synced phone, synced ipad ... this is too hard.

Ok ... I see what you're talking about now. However one recipient's ID appears at the top of the list of messages on my app - this is the recipient with the most failing notification ... the message doesn't appear in the string like all the other senders ... just the person's icon ... sigh. So no editing mute/unmute. Any way to edit this appearance setting??

Not sure if anybody else posted this situation.

Today I logged onto my Citibank account to set up face recognition for auto log on. In the middle of the transaction Citibank sends me a text message with the six digit code to enter to complete the process. My iPhone 12 text sound was heard on that text - so, Why did the sound work from Citibank but it doesn’t work from any of my contacts.

I just noticed something with my iPhone 12 and my Apple Watch. If my iPhone homepage is open or if an app is open and a text message comes in I got the alert tone. If I turn my phone off and a text comes in I don’t get the alert.

Not sure if you saw one of my earlier post. you will get an alert for a text coming in if your phone is ON if your home screen OPEN or if you have an app open. Phone off - no tone on incoming text

I asked my son who owns a Samsung 20 and a Samsung watch if he gets audible notifications on both watch and phone. He says yes. Yet here we are, Apple owners of the newest Apple technology and we cannot audible notifications, or intermittent at best? Apple listen up. Fix this already.

John, thank you for your help contacting Apple. Did you notice my post earlier that I noticed if I have the message app open on my iPhone and I receive a text I’ll get an alert. And that’s the only time I heard a text alert.

I'm with you, don't have, never had a watch. Have spent several hour on calls with both Apple and ATT, an Apple Tech admitted they are aware of the problem and an ATT Tech said all there is in these forums for help is Angry People.

I didn’t test that. But this is what I did test. On my Apple Watch I have the text app at 6o’clock position , And as soon as I get a text the phone now gives my Horn Honk sound and I immediately see a number 1 appear in the little green text icon on my Apple Watch. I don’t recall if the watch made a ding. But it still activated when a text is sent.

Make the changes I described above and you’ll see that it works. I am happy happy happy

So I understand that your notifications now go to your phone. However, do you get sound/vibration on your watch? That is the point for IW users. One reason you want sound on both watch and phone is so you are able to both devices to it's full capability.

My thoughts exactly, but no. It's either or which is very disappointing considering Samsung delivers sound and vibrate notifications to BOTH phone AND watch.

I want both my watch and phone to make a sound and vibrate when I get a notification. I guess Apple knows better than we do what we want.

We are not getting any audio notification when text messages come in. Help, this is on 12pro max

We have 2 sets of noice cancelling buds one does not hold a charge. I already call you for help and ran through the steps and it is broken.

The 12 also doesn't like to take a charge from the mag safe charger or the Duo charger. It doesn't make a noise when you set on them. It does make a noise when you plug it in with a wire.

please advise!!
