iPhone 12 Pro Max not wirelessly charging

Received my iPhone 12 Pro Max today but it won't wirelessly charge on any of the three Q1 chargers I have. My XS Max and wife's X all work fine. Why is this? I have the Apple silicone case but with the case or without it still won't charge. Starts for a few seconds then the chargers flash a few times and it stops charging.

Have tried the following:

Erase Network Settings - Didn't work

Hard reset (Volume up / Volume down / hold power until Apple logo shows) - Didn't work

Seeing lots of similar posts on other forums. Perhaps the magnets are interfering and Apple just want you to get a Magsafe charger instead?

(Had to select iPhone 11 Pro Max for what device am I referring too as 12 Pro Max not listed)

Try a different power adapter - I bought a wireless charger and was having the same issues, not charging iPhone 12 Pro Max, EarPods and Apple Watch. So I switched the power adapter and used a ‘Anker’ brand Quick Charge 3.0 which solved the issue of the wireless charging for all three devices.

I purchased the mophie 3:1 and ended up giving it to my wife Her 11p max does fine on it. The GeekEra that Lobsterghost1 talked about has worked quite well. I haven’t had any QI charging issues since acquiring it. I have the clear magsafe case which I only got because it was magsafe compatible which is turning out to be relatively useless. As I am reluctant to acquire the magsafe charger because of all the complaints, I will continue on with the GeekEra for now.

After EVERY iOS update, it is advisable to Force Restart your phone. I'm betting after you do , your phone will charge correctly.

  • Press and quickly release volume up button
  • Then press and quickly release volume down button
  • Then press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button (keep holding past the swipe to power off) until you see the Apple Logo, then let go

In fact, I bought 4 IPhone12 pro max, other 3 work normally, and the wireless charging is also normal. Only my phone cannot be charged normally. I have tried several wireless chargers. Still unable to charge. After coming here to discuss it, I discovered that this is a problem that many people have.

Just because others have an issue does not mean it has the same root cause.

Especially since you have others that do charge on your chargers, I would recommend you reach out to Apple Support directly and inform them of what you've stated here.

Under Australian Consumer Law, if the product does not perform its intended purpose (aka wireless charging as advertised - not wireless charging with only mag safe products), you should be entitled to a return/refund. Considering a charger was not included in the box, I believe a request for refund would be valid. I recommend using this terminology when requesting support from Apple. Just make sure that your third-party case is not impeding the charging ability.

Suddenly my new iPhone 12 Pro Max wouldn't charge on any of my QI chargers, nor the MagSafe charger. I had just bought a "fast charge" QI charger and thought it wasn't working so sent it back to Amazon today for refund. Then tonight I decided to investigate the charging issue and after seeing your comments, ended up chatting with Apple Tech Support. They asked me to rebooting iPhone and ,its now charging fine with all QI charges and the MagSafe charge too. Tech support person told me I shouldn't have to reboot frequently and hopefully tonight's reboot fixed the issue, but I told her I dont want to nor should I have to reboot again for this particular issue. She told me to lets wait and see before we throw the phone out...not an appropriate comment, but told her I wasn't going to throw my phone out! Jeesh. Anyway, thank you very much! I saved your link as I too have AirPods and Iwatch so this may be a future purchase.

I also have the iPhone wireless charging problems and have an open case with Apple. The products affected are iPhone 12 pro, iPhone 12 pro max, and iPhone 11. I purchased a Moshi Q wireless charger and Moshi USB C 18w power adapter 2 weeks ago. It charged the phones for about a week then stopped charging. I then bought Apple’s mag safe and USB C 20w power adapter. I was surprised that they also would not charge either phone (with or without the cases). I then took the Apple mag safe/adapter back to the store. Two sales agents tried using the mag safe/adapter to charge their iPhone 12s but were unsuccessful. We then tested a different new Apple mag safe and Apple power adapter - again no success. I have reported the problem to Apple. I have tried full iPhone shut downs and restarts but that proved ineffective. Apple support asked, and I allowed them to collect data and logs files from the phones. Their initial reviews showed no errors. Everything appears to to be working properly. The case has been passed it on to engineering. Hopefully Apple can solve this soon otherwise I will be returning the wireless charging products.

I discovered recently that I have the same problem. I bought my 12 Pro Max back in December and all worked fine until today.

I have read on the net that a reset might resolve this bug. I just shut it down and then power on and it started to charge on my QI Samsung charger.

Try reset/power down/power up until Apple will come up with a fix on this.

As I've said multiple times, I've had this charging stand now for months and my iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Max charge great on them.

I do put my 12 Pro Max in landscape on it though for the most reliable positioning.

Power off your phone, power it back on, then place it on the stand in landscape and I'm betting you'll find it works perfectly.

It is a common fault with iphone 12's, after speaking with several tec's at apple it was eventually confirmed that it is a software issue with iphone 12's, not hardware, despite what 'others' may say on this forum. So I wouldnt bother attempting to take phone back to apple store, the same issue will be there until software issue is addressed.

Apple are fully aware of issue and are trying to put a fix in, but it won't be soon.

I am experiencing exactly the same issue with wireless charging.

I am currently facing the same issue. Recently I have received a mophie 3-in-1 wireless charger from my friend and it charged my airpods and apple watch, however when it came to my iphone 12 pro max it charged for just a few seconds and then it stopped. I've tried every position possible and have too taken off and on the original apple silicon magsafe case. I've reached out to the official mophie website and they said the next IOS update should fix this.

I've had a 12 Pro Max since November, and place it on a wireless charger several times a day.

Not once has it failed to charge, except when placed on chargers whose manufacturers state they are not compatible (sadly including chargers from Belkin, who has now come out with new models that are.)

The charging brick is a done deal; none comes with new Samsungs, either:

The Verge: Samsung’s Galaxy S21 phones come with plenty of features — but not a charger
