iPhone 12 Pro Max not wirelessly charging

Received my iPhone 12 Pro Max today but it won't wirelessly charge on any of the three Q1 chargers I have. My XS Max and wife's X all work fine. Why is this? I have the Apple silicone case but with the case or without it still won't charge. Starts for a few seconds then the chargers flash a few times and it stops charging.

Have tried the following:

Erase Network Settings - Didn't work

Hard reset (Volume up / Volume down / hold power until Apple logo shows) - Didn't work

Seeing lots of similar posts on other forums. Perhaps the magnets are interfering and Apple just want you to get a Magsafe charger instead?

(Had to select iPhone 11 Pro Max for what device am I referring too as 12 Pro Max not listed)

I just bought my 12 Pro Max on Friday (11/13) and last night (11/17), the wireless charging stopped working. I found a video on YouTube that indicates that turning the phone off and then back on will temporarily resolve the issue and that installing iOS 14.2 will resolve it. I tried turning it off and back on and it did start wirelessly charging after that. Installing iOS 14.2 now. In the "About this Update" document, it indicate that the 14.2 release does fix the following issue (among others):

    • Devices could be prevented from charging wirelessly

I have the same problem my brand new iphone 12 Pro Max not charging with Magsafe. I am using the lightening cable to charge until Apple works out software upgrade. or not.....I don't wish to send back a new phone with a known problem and be without a phone for the switch out period. Perhaps if problem persists we can get a refund on the magsafe charger and just settle for lightening connector for charging. I mean there is not much difference plugging in the lightening cable as compared to using magsafe charger. Will just have to wait until the next iteration of the iphone 13 for them to work out the problems. There is so much confusion which power supply plug to use anyway...perhaps Apple should have included the correct wattage power plug with the iphone so many of these problems would be nipped in the bud....

I find it a little ironic that Apple claims to love the environment by 'reducing the items in the box' and moving us towards wireless charging and in so doing with these models, has caused us to proliferate the landfills with charging bricks that can't be reused.

That said, I have had some wireless charging success with the iPhone 12 Pro Max on my Belkin three point charging station by leaving a small gap between the charging coils and the brick. The Godilocks zone seems to be an angle with about 3/16" inch gap touching at the top of the Brick. It's sort of ridiculous that only the 12s are the problem. I have ordered a more powerful 3 point brick system that lobsterghost1 recommended. We will see how it goes. It is either a design flaw or a software glitch. I find it odd that it works best with a gap for me. I have not tried the MagSafe charger from Apple at this point. It seems moot to try it yet .. Some folks aren't able to charge at all on the 12s without a cable.

I find it completely frustrating that this problem wasn’t disclosed, nor overcome, after Apple releases the new 12 pro max phone. In addition to all the wireless charging issues, I have a new 2020 GMC truck with a wireless charger that is not working either and was working perfectly with the XS Max. We should not need all new chargers as Apple, and it’s development team, should be providing quick solutions to what appears to be a growing concern. Honestly, if my company were to release a new product with this type of issue, I would be a little embarrassed that we missed something this easy since wireless charging capabilities are something many of us have come to appreciate especially in places like our cars. I only hope there is a fix on the way as it’s a little frustrating to have a brand new car with what could become a useless feature.

I also have the same issue with my Tacoma. I can charge without the Apple Magsafe case but if I put the case on it doesn’t charge. I tried another thin case to see if it would work but it still wouldn’t work. I don’t really need to take it out of the case unless my wife and I are both using the truck to charge our phones on a trip. The real point is I shouldn’t have to. You what Steve Jobs used to say ... “It just works” .. Pretty much everything else works except some buggy apps , but that will always be cropping up ..

from Quad Lock

the real answers, major apple stuff up

WIRELESS CHARGING COMPATIBILITY

Magsafe & iPhone 12

Due to the thickness of the Quad Lock mounting feature, the Apple Magsafe charger will not magnetically attach when using a Quad Lock Case.

Apple has also made changes to the iPhone 12 models which reduced the wireless charging range by approximately 50%. Unfortunately, this means that the Magsafe charger is unable to charge iPhone 12's when using a Quad Lock case.

However previous iPhone models (iPhone 8 through to iPhone 11) do charge using the Magsafe wireless charger but the phone will need to be aligned manually on the Magsafe charger.

I am having issues every night. At first it was 95%, then 96%, then today (Fri 25th Nov) it was down at 34% and had not charged all night apart from a 20 min blip when I first set it on the charger.

The charger is a wireless, Belkin Boost 7.5W from Apple store. Always worked with my Xs Max but not with 12 Pro Max.

My MagSafe animation no longer works for my Apple leather case either.

I’ve rebooted, hard reset and it still does not work and my iPhone is on iOS 14.2.1

Last night was annoying. If I had work today, my iPhone would have been at 34%.

I don’t feel this is a coil issue, it is an Apple Firmware issue. Can the Belkin coil position really be that far out?

Why have you changed the specs on wireless charging making most charges not compatible and now don’t supply the standard charger either!
my quad lock case is now useless after doing a great job with my XS

You must think when you ask "why have you" that you're addressing Apple on this forum? You're not. Apple isn't here on this user to user only forum.

Not speaking for Apple, but Apple cannot guarantee when they introduce a new design or feature it will be forever compatible with 3rd party accessories. There are literally thousands and thousands and thousands or 3rd party products out there. It's not Apple's responsibility to ensure their products work with someone else's products.

I am only able to charge wirelessly without a case the chargers that I used on my prior iPhones work just fine so with apples MagSafe silicone case or a speck or otter box case. Non of my wireless chargers will work. The magnet in the iPhone plus having a case is interfering with wireless chargers. Apple should have tested this with multiple cases prior to releasing the phone with this technology totally screwing over everybody who had and spent money on wireless Chargers.
