iPhone 12 Pro Max not wirelessly charging

Received my iPhone 12 Pro Max today but it won't wirelessly charge on any of the three Q1 chargers I have. My XS Max and wife's X all work fine. Why is this? I have the Apple silicone case but with the case or without it still won't charge. Starts for a few seconds then the chargers flash a few times and it stops charging.

Have tried the following:

Erase Network Settings - Didn't work

Hard reset (Volume up / Volume down / hold power until Apple logo shows) - Didn't work

Seeing lots of similar posts on other forums. Perhaps the magnets are interfering and Apple just want you to get a Magsafe charger instead?

(Had to select iPhone 11 Pro Max for what device am I referring too as 12 Pro Max not listed)

Try a different power adapter - I bought a wireless charger and was having the same issues, not charging iPhone 12 Pro Max, EarPods and Apple Watch. So I switched the power adapter and used a ‘Anker’ brand Quick Charge 3.0 which solved the issue of the wireless charging for all three devices.

I have the same problem my brand new iphone 12 Pro Max not charging with Magsafe. I am using the lightening cable to charge until Apple works out software upgrade. or not.....I don't wish to send back a new phone with a known problem and be without a phone for the switch out period. Perhaps if problem persists we can get a refund on the magsafe charger and just settle for lightening connector for charging. I mean there is not much difference plugging in the lightening cable as compared to using magsafe charger. Will just have to wait until the next iteration of the iphone 13 for them to work out the problems. There is so much confusion which power supply plug to use anyway...perhaps Apple should have included the correct wattage power plug with the iphone so many of these problems would be nipped in the bud....

Because the case has magnets in it exactly where the new charging plate is in your phone. If they don't align with the charging plate in your Qi charger, it would stand to reason, it would interfere with charging.

If you want a leather case which isn't MagSafe, you have options. See this link from Amazon --> https://www.amazon.com/s?k=iphone+12+pro+max+leather+cases&ref=nb_sb_noss

Not really. The fact Apple sells 3rd party accessories in their store is because they don't make an accessory themselves. That doesn't mean Apple is required to ensure their new phones are fully compatible with accessories they didn't manufacture, especially if the accessory was designed and manufactured before the new phones were released.

You have to recognize Apple is now selling MagSafe, a proprietary Qi charging system for iPhone, designed BY APPLE. They designed iPhone 12 for MagSafe. Clearly they want you to buy MagSafe. But you don't have to buy MagSafe. You do however have to use a Qi charger which will work. Using a case designed for MagSafe, seems counterproductive in your efforts to charge your phone.

I've posted above how I solved the wireless charging riddle with our phones.

I’m running 14.3 (iOS public beta participant) and mine works after a hard reset but then eventually stops working on all 3 of my wireless chargers (two off brand multi service chargers and my Tesla factory installed charging pad in my car). My wife’s 12 Pro Max has no issue on any of the chargers. She is running 14.2 and both of us are using MagSafe silicon cases. Case removal without a reset has no bearing on bug fix for me.

Update #3 for me:

I have been using a cable or MagSafe charger (yes I wasted money) for a few days during the day and then not bothering at night. However, I decided to just turn ‘optimised charging’ off then back on, reboot, force reset, all of the usual things....

Last night mine fully charged to 100% Qi charger stand with a Pitaka MagEZ case still on it.

I’m thinking this was a fluke or I hit the magic perfect spot for the coil to line up for Qi charging so I’ll try again tonight and see what happens.

Either way, we all know there needs to be a fix from Apple or just stop using cases with magnets in as well.

On a side note, the Pitaka MagEZ cases are awesome again this year. I’ve been using them since 2015. Superb gear. No affiliation to them, I just love the gear.

No it really doesn’t ‘charge correctly’ after a force restart. There’s enough people with issues for it to be recognised as a software issue with the 12’s and that’s it. We should not be having to work around issues trying a charge an iPhone, it’s absolute lunacy.

I had 2 nights of full charge then last night only to 96%. Life was a lot simpler before Qi came about ;) lol

Same here. I thought I was the only person having issues or that I was doing something to short out the wireless charging however I also purchased a brand new iPhone 12 Pro Max and after having it about a week the wireless charging stopped working. Took it to the Apple store and they swapped it out. The wireless charging worked fine for 3 days and I’m back to it not working.
