iPhone 12 Pro Max not wirelessly charging

Received my iPhone 12 Pro Max today but it won't wirelessly charge on any of the three Q1 chargers I have. My XS Max and wife's X all work fine. Why is this? I have the Apple silicone case but with the case or without it still won't charge. Starts for a few seconds then the chargers flash a few times and it stops charging.

Have tried the following:

Erase Network Settings - Didn't work

Hard reset (Volume up / Volume down / hold power until Apple logo shows) - Didn't work

Seeing lots of similar posts on other forums. Perhaps the magnets are interfering and Apple just want you to get a Magsafe charger instead?

(Had to select iPhone 11 Pro Max for what device am I referring too as 12 Pro Max not listed)

I just bought my 12 Pro Max on Friday (11/13) and last night (11/17), the wireless charging stopped working. I found a video on YouTube that indicates that turning the phone off and then back on will temporarily resolve the issue and that installing iOS 14.2 will resolve it. I tried turning it off and back on and it did start wirelessly charging after that. Installing iOS 14.2 now. In the "About this Update" document, it indicate that the 14.2 release does fix the following issue (among others):

    • Devices could be prevented from charging wirelessly

Updated the firmware on my Nomad Base Station Pro and placed the 12PM on the base to charge at around +/- 31%. This morning the phone was still charging and had only completed its charge to +/- 71%. Tonight I will test charging without the MagSafe Leather case. The positive in this is that I was able to get a "better" charge, but not a full charge.

MTF.

@DirtECash take the leather case off as this is the issue. Since removing mine, I get a proper charge and it’s 100% every morning now. I have a Belkin Boost stand from an Apple store. I then wasted £35 on a MagSafe charger just to test this on my iPhone and case and it all works even though my case animation does not. Weird!

iPhone 12 Pro Max has charged wirelessly with no issues on multiple chargers since Day 0, Nov. 13. Last night it did not. Running iOS 14.2.1. Tried it on three different Qi chargers plus my car, with and without a case, with no luck. Just did a hard reset and it again works on all chargers—who knows for how long? Clearly a problem Apple needs to address.

I’m running 14.3 (iOS public beta participant) and mine works after a hard reset but then eventually stops working on all 3 of my wireless chargers (two off brand multi service chargers and my Tesla factory installed charging pad in my car). My wife’s 12 Pro Max has no issue on any of the chargers. She is running 14.2 and both of us are using MagSafe silicon cases. Case removal without a reset has no bearing on bug fix for me.

UPDATE:- The Pitaka MagEZ case is also a fail,. even though they changed their magnet positions to be out of the way of MagSafe, it still messes up wireless charging on my Belkin Boost stand. I may try to lift the iPhone up slightly next.

I took a screen shot of the battery charging and zoomed in so I could see what happened.

It charges properly until 95% and then stops. Then it pulses around 6 more times between 6am and 9.30am, regular intervals of around 30 to 40 mins, but only charges for like 2 mins before turning off again, ergo never reaching 100%.

So I may go back to the Apple stand, 5W charger plug and a lightning cable like “the good old days”. lol.

All of this is just a mess. So folks, either use a case with no magnets as suggested previously in this thread, or just use a cable and be done with it. I wouldn’t even use MagSafe itself as I feel it generates too much heat and that is the worst thing for battery life completely. So back to the cables it is.

Thanks for all the comments and thoughts. :D

This has happened with my 12 Pro twice now. It just stops wireless charging. Reboot works to restore, but this should not be happening. I’ve never had this issue with previous iphones. This also typically happens when it’s on the charger overnight, so I’m just about dead in the water when I start my work day. Hoping Apple can resolve this issue ASAP!

For the past two nights I have been able to wirelessly charge (Nomad Base Station Pro) successfully to 100% with the MagSafe case on, but with one exception.

Since the wireless charging issue with the MagSafe case is indeed related to the "MAG"nets in the case, and since I like the blue leather case, I decided to do an experiment. I carefully used my hobby knife and removed the "felt" material covering the magnet portion on the inside of the case. Removed the magnet ring, replaced the fabric (the ring is still naked) and viola, charging has not been hampered with the case installed.

This solution is not for everyone, but if you like your case and are willing to give it a try, (who see's the inside of your case but you anyway???) it'll solve your wireless charging (with MagSafe case installed) issue(s), at least it did for me.

I’m having the same issue. My 12 Pro Max had been charging just fine for the first week on my wireless charging stand which does have dual charging plates. Then this morning I woke up to an uncharged phone. I am running iOS 14.2.1 & have done a soft reset & turned the phone off, then back on but mine still won’t charge wirelessly. I have read every post in this thread with everyone saying they’d had temporary success after powering off, then on but no such luck here. Although, my wife’s 12 Pro works fine on all 4 of our wireless bases. I guess I’m calling Apple Customer Support tomorrow.
