iPhone 12 Pro Max not wirelessly charging

Received my iPhone 12 Pro Max today but it won't wirelessly charge on any of the three Q1 chargers I have. My XS Max and wife's X all work fine. Why is this? I have the Apple silicone case but with the case or without it still won't charge. Starts for a few seconds then the chargers flash a few times and it stops charging.

Have tried the following:

Erase Network Settings - Didn't work

Hard reset (Volume up / Volume down / hold power until Apple logo shows) - Didn't work

Seeing lots of similar posts on other forums. Perhaps the magnets are interfering and Apple just want you to get a Magsafe charger instead?

(Had to select iPhone 11 Pro Max for what device am I referring too as 12 Pro Max not listed)

I just bought my 12 Pro Max on Friday (11/13) and last night (11/17), the wireless charging stopped working. I found a video on YouTube that indicates that turning the phone off and then back on will temporarily resolve the issue and that installing iOS 14.2 will resolve it. I tried turning it off and back on and it did start wirelessly charging after that. Installing iOS 14.2 now. In the "About this Update" document, it indicate that the 14.2 release does fix the following issue (among others):

    • Devices could be prevented from charging wirelessly

Update #3 for me:

I have been using a cable or MagSafe charger (yes I wasted money) for a few days during the day and then not bothering at night. However, I decided to just turn ‘optimised charging’ off then back on, reboot, force reset, all of the usual things....

Last night mine fully charged to 100% Qi charger stand with a Pitaka MagEZ case still on it.

I’m thinking this was a fluke or I hit the magic perfect spot for the coil to line up for Qi charging so I’ll try again tonight and see what happens.

Either way, we all know there needs to be a fix from Apple or just stop using cases with magnets in as well.

On a side note, the Pitaka MagEZ cases are awesome again this year. I’ve been using them since 2015. Superb gear. No affiliation to them, I just love the gear.

@NuTarius78 - my power adapter is fixed with the charger. Works fine with any other iPhone. The main issue is magnets that you get in the iPhone 12’s and in the cases too. It’s enough to cause an issue with Qi charging anyway.

Without a case on, my 12 Pro Max charged every time. Apart from wasting money on the MagSafe charger I didnt’ need I won’t be buying anything else. I’ve been charging with the cable. It’s ace! 50% in 30 mins! Hahaha.

after a week my iPhone 12 pro max stopped charging on any of wireless charge unites. I did a hard reset and the fixed the problem for about 15 minutes and it stoped again. I went in to battery and turned off the optimized battery setting and it started to charge I went back in turned optimized charging again and again after a few minutes it stopped again. the charge level is 65%

What charger and how old is it? Does it have dual charging plates? Is it powered by a higher watt QC3.0 charging brick?

With the position of the MagSafe charging plate in the new iPhone 12's, these are considerations that make a difference. And why when we were having issues, I replaced all our wireless chargers and for the last few weeks have had no charging issues at all.

IPhone 12 Pro Max on iOS 14.3 does not fix wireless charging for me. Purchased a new Mophie 3:1 from Apple hoping it would solve the problem but unfortunately not.

sometimes it will charge for a while then the front Led will start blinking and no charging.

Disappointed really when old XS max was never a problem. I don’t want to use mag safe either.

I purchased the mophie 3:1 and ended up giving it to my wife Her 11p max does fine on it. The GeekEra that Lobsterghost1 talked about has worked quite well. I haven’t had any QI charging issues since acquiring it. I have the clear magsafe case which I only got because it was magsafe compatible which is turning out to be relatively useless. As I am reluctant to acquire the magsafe charger because of all the complaints, I will continue on with the GeekEra for now.

Only just purchased the Mophie charger from Apple online store. Wife has Belkin type which is fairly new but doesn’t seem to work either. I may send the Mophie back if no fix is available and try your suggestion. Not Paying £109:00 for something that doesn’t work with my phone, as said should work with your devices on Apple store.

My wife’s IPhone 12 Pro seems fine on both chargers albeit seems the max is different. Might be because it’s taller, coils further up and not aligning as well on the coil in the charging unit?

Anyway having to charge using lead for now.

I'm glad my recommendation of the Geekera is still working out well for you. It works wonderfully for both our iP 12 and 12 Pro Max. Not a single hiccup in the three weeks since we got them. No reboots nor forced restarts. Just consistently good charging.

Just took a look at the Geekera 3:1 on Amazon and some favourable reviews but a couple of things probably against it, for me anyway, is the bright green led which apparently stays on & wouldn’t be good as I charge next to the bed at night. Also some humming noises present so again next to a bed is probably an inconvenience, for some anyway.
