iPhone 12 Pro Max screen has yellow tint

I hope that you are right because this time APPLE did really a wrong job!

It is not good to lose such trust from customers (considering that Apple devices costs too much already): people are still buying Apple for quality; but if quality begins to lack......

What is really strange to me is that some devices has the issue and some seems not (I saw in a APPLE store); what does this means?:

• is APPLE buying display from different sub-vendors?
• people that have different display have different quality? (and all payed the same amount)
• how is it possible missing such quality control during the production? do they check color and brightness when the device is assembled?
• I mean: still on your website, comparing an iPhone XR with an iPhone 12 PRO, you declare that the new one has 800 nit against 625 nit of the XR; but comparing the real two phones, the XR seems more bright and more new model than iPhone 12 PRO (even the iPhone7 looks more bright, actually).

Your 12 pro might be brighter by tweaking it, nevertheless by looking at the photos you are showing the ones on the 12 pro max look (to me!) washed out (not just brighter!) compare with the other phone.

interesting, i’m trying it with my mini but don’t notice much. it seems to fade the screen rather than turn back to the nice bright white (yellow paper look kinda goes away..) i know what your saying though, just can’t really replicate.

Well per the NDA you signed when you joined the beta program you agreed to not discuss anything having to do with the beta software publicly, and that includes here. Your post could actually be removed by the forum hosts for violating your NDA.

My 12 Pro Max had an overall green tint to the screen, which gives it a dull, dingy, low-contrast look.

I have until January 8 to return it, so I will return it then and hope newer production units don’t have this problem.

Yeah, better tell everybody if the new one they are giving are ok; but looking at the latest Apple store, still they have lots yellowish screen.... This is really bad!!!

i find want to go to far off topic, but when you take pictures and videos I noticed the brightness like maxes out, you can see it in the time stamp and record button, it’s like super bright white. Maybe they are trying to fake the hdr look or trick your eyes. When you stop the video it all goes back to normal. It’s like auto brightness for videos... weird.

Yes, I noticed that too, it is annoying. It happens when I view & play the video too. I wonder if anyone knows why or is there a way to switch that off? I edit short clips on my phone and this setting creates a deception which I do not like. I also noticed the colours of my videos go really unsaturdated when I edit them in certain apps.

I was never aware of the black issue or flickering. I’m very sensitive to flicker and it’s not been an issue for me.

will just go and do a black compare on number 2. It’s not gone back yet.

Another weird thing. The screen will brighten over 10-20 seconds when opened, even if already showing max brightness.

Light control is an integrated part of True Tone so probably the same sensor even when not using TRue Tone.

I can’t get the hue just right with that method.

The best compromise is True Tone off. Period. For me.

As your very rightly say, if you wanted to play with settings, you’d have bought android for half the price. We paid top dollar and our expectations are reasonable in that context.

I don’t care much about the yellow tint as I care about the OLED screen not able to display pure blacks or flicker with brightness under 100%. I’m wondering if there is units out there that don’t have this issues.

Bottom line for me is I wish I hadn’t sold my iPhone X. It’s only issue was the battery was at 80%. And because I get tax back through business, it was cheaper to replace the phone and sell the old one than buy a new battery. So it made sense, but now I have a phone that is inferior in day to day use.

and even if software, I’m not getting a warm feeling Apple intend to fix it.

I guess they’re responding to people in different ways or depending on who you talk to you…? I was told I have to wait till 14.3 comes out which I hear has done nothing. We’ll see if they take back my mini after the update does nothing.

Also have a yellow tint on my 12PM. Really concerned as to whether this is a hardware or software issue. I’d rather not return the phone, but it is also very concerning if this was a QC problem on the display end. Disappointing. Wish Apple would speak up on this.
