I bought my iPhone from the T-Mobile retailer, mine was manufactured during the 2nd week of December and I received it and saw that the contrast and the screen had a overall yellow tint. Instantly got annoyed about it, but kept thinking about it and decided to order one from Apple directly. I received it today and it seems like the new one is a lot better, the contrast and the grays and blacks look a lot darker. However, the white is still a bit warm, but is a very minor problem now. I think Apple might be fixing it slowly through the manufacturing process. I would recommend to exchange or return and purchase it again to get a different batch and try your luck

Yea, same here w/ 12pro max. Brightness turn down to like 5 or so can see green or grey not pure black, which as I know OLED should be pure dark v.s LED screen. And then white image looks yellow-green-ish when True Tone turn oooooooof v.s my old 11pro max. For ur ref I happen to check like 4 or 5 iphone12pro max in the apple store and they just looks like the same yellow-green-ish. Weird. located in CN.

I was told the same by phone support. it sounds like the color calibration is off. pictures and video look amazing, but when browsing google, iphone (settings) and even this thread I see the light tint of yellow like old paper or those weird kindle fire reader tabs designed to look like that. CS said to wait for next iOS.

Yes it is troubling!

In summary, it looks like all 12pm are having these issues. The variations in the responses on this thread are due to the fact that some notice them and some don’t. Some have another iPhone side by side to compare with and some don’t. Without another iPhone next to my 12pm I love it not being so bright to read text (note: like many others I tweaked the screen it to make the yellow tint whitish-grayish). I’d keep it if I didn’t care about photography. However, I believe that most ppl who got this phone also care about photography, and by nature pay more attention to those colors variations. While I still have it (didn’t returned it yet, but I’m about to). I played with it some more. I took an photo on it  edited it to my satisfaction. However, after editing, when I airdropped it to the 11pm iphone it looked hideous — like a face with way too much colorful makeup, if you will. Not a desirable result from >$1k phone. Apple can do better and whey should!

I got my iPhone 12 Pro in November and noticed the yellow tint straight away. I contacted the CS helpline and the engineering team was happy to send me a replacement as an "urgent matter", but when I was handed to the aftersales team they said no. Simply because I got the phone on a finance plan. I told them I will wait until the lockdown in the UK is over and visit the Apple Store to see if they can do anything about it.

I had a Genius Bar appointment yesterday and the guy didn't acknowledge the issue. He ran hardware diagnostic & a display test which found nothing. But when I mentioned the white looks really yellow/green compared to my iPhone X he got out the specs telling me a comparison between the two is not valid. I understand that but as the user, I am not happy about the colours I am looking at. He told me to use it without TrueTone for a few days to see how it goes. I can go back and get 1 replacement but he specifically mentioned if I am not happy about the new one there's nothing can be done. I noticed the white actually looks a lot better in the store (I wonder if it's the lighting in there).

So I’m on my 3rd iPhone 12 pro. First two were dull. All auto features off, max brightness was less than the Xs. And the terrible yellow True Tone.

the 3rd is normal brightness but the True Tone is truly disgusting, still. So yellow.

So I think there are two issues here. Low screen brightness and a True Tone fault.

The auto brightness assumes a certain level of output. If the screen is under par, it will auto adjust to be always a bit dark.

the third phone with true tone off is actually fine. But True Tone is shocking.

can’t say if True Tone is a hardware issue or software. There could be a perfect storm of hardware and software issues. I do agree with one poster it’s related to trying to save battery. Along with low brightness screens and maybe a bad sensor. Maybe this new glass filters light oddly, so the sensor is fooled. But that could be fixed in software, before release!!!

what I cannot fathom is how apple can let this happen so widely.

I tend to agree. What is odd is Apple response.

They are happily sending me new phones. Not saying it’s intentional and not saying I’m imagining it or it’s not faulty. It’s odd. How many replacements before they say “no more”?

They know about this and are trying to keep it quiet. But what is their game plan? Ignore till we accept or buy a Samsung and keep the remaining customers? Or keep me happy until they fix it? I have no idea.

I don’t care much about True Tone as I care about green tint. True Tone achieves a very well calibrated display.

Well I'm just speaking from the experiences I've had on my own and also listening to people who have had True Tone compatibility devices who have either been professional photographers or work with video. They all have for the most part recommended disabling it to have accurate representation. Since I have both training in photography, and video, I tend to abide by those guidelines and simply suggest it to others to save them frustration in the end. Especially now after seeing what it does to the display on this iPhone vs when it's off.
