Cannot connect to AppleTV after Big Sur update

how did you fix this problem??? I can airplay to my lg tv but it won't let me airplay to my Apple TV box and I've tried everything I could find on the internet, PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

Same problem here, Big Sur sometimes briefly shows my library, but it then stops working. This is only since Big Sur and the last TVOS update. I have seen a reference to make sure they are either both on wifi and ethernet, but that is bogus.

May be time to switch out my apple equipment as they continue to break everything except for the items you have to purchase, only those appear in my Apple TV, or Computer apps on the apple tv.

I tried your suggestion and it worked!!! I'm by no means Tech Savy in any form so I followed your suggestion. It worked but I had to restart my computer. Once I restarted everything flowed right in as needed. Thank you for your assistance.

I have neither Norton, or McAfee. The problem resolved when I reauthorized the mac, but it is temporary and the same problem recurs a short time later.

I am pretty sure it has to do with authorizations that Apple is controlling.

I can't recall and too lazy to look, but does this issue occur with any other security program? It's perplexing that there are reports of this issue without security software and that sounds odd (not to say dangerous). Has anyone fronted Apple about this?

Fine, I tried it last night and it worked but what about the icon at the top of the Mac screen? That is missing. How can I get that back without going through what you said in your response? Apple can't keep having their customers find all the obvious errors that the QA people should find - these are low hanging error fruit.

I am almost ready to go to PC after this mess.

If you want to add screen mirroring to the menu bar, click on the new icon that looks like two slider controls. a dropdown window will appear, drag the screen mirroring box up to the menu bar, the icon will appear as two overlapping rectangles (see picture below)

I followed the instructions from this support website by clicking on the double squares at the top of the screen and wow, I now have a clickable icon at the top of my screen. Thank you for your help.

Have clicked on the screen mirroring icon in the control centre, still no joy, just comes up with a window saying can't connect
