Found this on another thread with the same problem. Fixed up just right on my iMAC!

Hello Roro9,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We understand that since updating your MacBook to Big Sur your screen keeps flickering when watching Netflix. We're happy to help!

Let's try an SMC reset.

You may also want to try an NVRAM reset.

We also recommend starting in safe mode. Sometimes just starting in this mode and then restarting normally can resolve issues like this:

Let us know if that worked for you.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Take care!

TANGENT:

I have looked into this so many times and ran all the necessary checks ,and nothing. Not even the staff at my local apple store knew. They said it's because Netflix won't run properly on drivers that need updating and Netflix says the same thing.

I also have a MacBook Air 2020 and I think you'll agree the reasons are BS.

I'm putting it down as a faulty Mac and they don't want to admit it. I bet my suss will be confirmed in the future just as the 2017 and 2018 editions were faulty and didn't tell their customers.

Same here. 2020 MacBook Pro running Big Sur 11.2.3. I have connected a 2011 27" Apple Cinema Display for my video editing. Apple doesn't make an adapter so I have to use an UpTab brand adapter from Amazon. At first I thought the adapter was causing the glitch so I ordered a new one. Issue still persists. This is my work computer and I need it to work correctly! My 2015 MacBook Pro worked fine besides being slow and having a severely bloated battery and warped casing. Hopefully this is just a software issue and next update will fix. I'm currently updating to Big Sur 11.3 so we shall see.

Flicker problem drove me batty just today! 2018 15" MBP2.9GHz i9 32 GB DDR4 w/ LG 5K 27" monitor running Big Sur 11.3.1. Found a solution but not sure why it works or if it might cause trouble later. Opened the MBP cover and, in clamshell mode, I get zero flicker over past hour!! Haven't yet tried the MBP w/o external monitor, but never had flicker that way before.

Does this fix make sense to those more knowing than I?

Is there any downside to my MBP by running it cracked open when I need the external monitor?

Thanks & hoping Apple peeks in to see this.

I have similar issue on both of my iMacs with Big Sur 11.4 while External 4K dell screen is connected. No issues yet when using standalone!

I have a workaround that might help others as well.

I've noticed I mostly (or maybe only) have this problem while using Safari and Webkit applications! such as Appstore, Xcode etc.

As a workaround close all apple applications to avoid Webkit and use Firefox instead of Safari and let me know if this helps you or not!

I believe people who still have Apple support should raise that and notify Apple team at first place.

You can also report the issue through "Feedback Assistant" on your mac.

Hopefully Apple will fix this problem in coming updates!

Cheers!
