I updated to Big Sur on my MacBook Pro yesterday. There don't seem to be any HP printer drivers that are compatible. Now I can't print. Anyone else find a fix? I have tried the drivers I can find on HP site. None seem to be compatible.

Thank you for your suggestion. I tried all the options you suggested with no luck, but I finally solved the problem last night. I downloaded and installed Gutenprint as mentioned elsewhere in this thread, and then - this is the important bit - I turned on printer sharing in the system preferences menu. After than the 6l driver appeared and was auto-selected in the driver options menu when re-installing the printer. I hope this helps others to solve the problem. Thanks everyone!
I finally downloaded HP Smart, landed on my dock, tested print, tested scan and even tested fax all worked flawlessly with MACOS Big Sur 11. So thrill !

I have an HP OFFICEJET PRO 8720, I updated to Big Sur a couple of weeks back and my printer wouldn't work I followed all the advice with exception to using a Generic Postscript Driver. Decided to night to reinstall the HP Smart App and problem solved.. I can print again!!
For my old HP2100 (using a network connection) I usually just use the gutenprint driver that is a choice when you set up this model. I found it was way faster to print PDFs. This is not affected by Big Sur.
To use the HP driver I used the uninstall HP software and then reinstall HP’s 5.1 driver from Apple support using the shareware Pacifist [suggested in an earlier posting as a workaround] I would still get the frightening warning dialogue box when printing but I just ignore it in order to print. I see now the 5.1 is available and hope it has been updated so it can be installed on its own and no more warning boxes! I’ll try it later.
You can attempt to add the printer using AirPrint as your protocol. If the printer doesn't have full AirPrint support, you'll be limited to basic printing functions.

I downloaded HP Smart on my brand new 2020 27” iMac two days ago, using printer Officejet Pro 8600, it works great even fax works that I never used.
Try to install HP Smart. My new iMac 27" is now working without the HP driver.
This reset worked for me on a 2015 MacBook Pro with Big Sur 11.4. You have to add the printer again, reset some print options and it will delete all printers currently listed. But hey! It worked! https://osxdaily.com/2021/06/04/troubleshooting-printer-not-working-macos/
Try the Generic Postscript Driver.

Probably? It's not a new computer and my printer worked perfectly before BIg Sur. After, it didn't but then I installed Hp Smart app and I can print from the computer and scan from the computer.
This is exactly what I did installing HP Smart on my 2020 27” iMac, scan, print and faxall worked
I think if you download the HP Smart App it will look for your printer. Try it.
