that’s not true. mine cracked without being dropped

If you feel that is the case, make an appointment to have your phone examined by Apple.

They are trained to be able to tell the difference between a stress crack or manufacturing defect and damage due to impact, and stress cracks or defects do occasionally occur as they do with any other product that uses glass.

I think you missed the point. My car is low to the ground. The phone fell before I even stood up. It fell from roughly 18 inches. I should be able to count on a 1000 beer tokens not breaking from that height or the height of my hand while standing. Regardless if I have AppleCare or not we should’ve able to count on our phones surviving anything under a 10 feet fall for the cost of over 1000 a thousand beer tokens.

I think you are missing the point, people are saying this iPhone 12 seems to be very fragile... more so then other models. I don’t recall a drop event neither does my wife yet within two weeks of each other our back glass was broken. There is a chance I don’t recall or that something happened but in all my iPhone history I have not had and issue like this especially since both phone have stayed in a case and both cases were made by Apple.... something seems to be off a bit. Maybe Apple has some defective glass, maybe it is 100% user error, but it seem you and a few others are very dismissive of this without evidence or knowledge of anything. I didn’t fuss with Apple on replacing and paying the fee with my phone but after my wife’s phone's back glass shattered I am a little more skeptical about this being user error...

Seems a common problem and I wonder has Apple acknowledged this engineering flaw? We have owned 12 iPhones over the years (2 adults + 2 kids). ONLY ever had 1 screen crack. In other words we are very careful with our devices...even the kids. My son has his phone in an otterbox and has no damage to the phone other than the shattered back. Lame.

There are mounting complaints of how easily the iPhone 12 back cracks. I don’t even know how mine happened as I don’t recall it dropping and it has been in an apple case from the moment I got it. Seems like a real design flaw that then means the consumer had to purchase a new phone as Apple don’t have an affordable repair for this issue. They have offered to take my phone in for diagnostics but can’t guarantee it will be returned in working order as my case is holding the back together. This leaves me having to buy a new phone again. So I am stuck with a new broken phone and no solution.
