that’s not true. mine cracked without being dropped

If you feel that is the case, make an appointment to have your phone examined by Apple.

They are trained to be able to tell the difference between a stress crack or manufacturing defect and damage due to impact, and stress cracks or defects do occasionally occur as they do with any other product that uses glass.

This happened to my daughter's phone as well! Dropped in from less than two feet. It was in a case and the whole back is shattered. The camera is still perfectly intact. I couldn't even believe it when it happened. I started googling to see if anyone else had issues like this. With all these same occurrences this has got to be a defect with the iphone 12's. So very disappointing. Its not even a month old.

12 pro max had a screen protector and a speck case - I had it for about 3 weeks before back glass shattered after it fell 28 inches onto my carpet. My 7 S plus had the same case, same screen protector and was dropped hundreds of times and never got a scratch. So, I realize glass breaks when dropped - I would understand if I had dropped it on concrete…. But 28” onto carpet seems pretty delicate for the price I’ve paid for this 12 pro max - other than shattered back glass, it’s a great phone - just have to hope no further damage occurs as a result of this soft landing. It really is frustrating.

Mine broked in the back very easily. Different opinion and respect yours! But I wouldn’t be so confident that won’t break… also had 5, 7 plus, 11 12 pro max! The 12 pro max is by far the most fragile. And the endemic you spoke is a question of time… it’s a conception problem to facilitate the wireless charging. Hope that you won’t have the same problem as we…. Beacause apple will runaway if another unrelated hardware happens under warranty (arguing that it has a crack in the back—- I repeat in unrelated problems).

OK....Then you are looking for solutions in the wrong place from the wrong audience. This is a user to user ONLY forum. Apple isn't here, with the exception of forum moderators who edit or remove posts for violation of terms of use.

Since it's clear we users cannot offer whatever it is you seek, your only recourse is to contact Apple and air your grievances with them directly. Continuing your ire on this user to user only forum is going to get you nothing.

the Apple rep openly said that the back screen is not durable even if you have a case protector! Then on their site they say how durable they are compared to other brands. It is absolutely turning me away from any more Apple products if they can’t provide customer service. You go on Amazon or YouTube and there are guns of videos on how to replace it. I don’t understand how they don’t see there is a problem. We all have paid plenty for a ‘quality’ phone!

The more I understand this issue, the more I am thinking this is a period defect in the manufacture, and not caused by a bad design

this happened to me - in a case, not dropped, but kept in my back pocket like every other iPhone I have ever had

i believe my break happened due to bend/pressure. But again, no more than has been subjected to any other phone I have owned.

the drop and bend tests done by independent testers show this model to be far superior to its predecessors.

which leads me to believe that the issues we are experiencing are related to some defective materials, but not a defective design
