Homepod mini handoff not working

Problem resolved. After factory reset my iPhone hand off started working. The issue is with an app or a setting which is stopping hand off working. I tried everything couldn’t figure it out so I wiped my phone clean and started fresh and it works

I updated it to 14.2.1 last night. Surprisingly My homepod mini's handoff feature started to work so fine. Until now there's no problem.

I thought Apple fixed the issue. I feel sorry to folks who still can't have handoff.

As i said before, litterally nothing works, resetting homepod mini, resetting the phone, and using and older phone (iPhone XR and lower) the fact is that the homepod mini utilizes a U1 Chip embedded inside the system that talks to another U1 chip in your phone (any iPhone 11 and newer model) giving that phone this new feature.

masonfromeasthampton, I have an iPhone XS and HomePod mini, and handoff works on them. And the only thing that helped was turning on the motion feature. It stops working from time to time, though, and I need to restart the iPhone to make it work again.

after update to 14.4 my iphone 11 does not handoff to homepod mini at all.

correct me if Im wrong: there was "old handoff" by NFC before 14.4, but apple switched to "new handoff" by UWB (U1chip), but old NFC method gone.

So, in the country where UWB not applied entire handoff now gone? return to 14.3 on homepod impossible.

PS. Homepod big size and phones earlier 11 dont have U1chip, so the "old handoff" by NFC seems alive for them.

Is this kind of story going on now?

I was having the same issue with my HomePod mini. My iPhone was not transferring music to the HomePod mini and then I moved and changed internet providers with super fast speeds. Today I noticed it started transferring to the HomePod mini so it was my internet connection or the router that was giving me the issue. Today it’s working fine!!

Settings—>privacy—>Motion and Fitness—>allow fitness tracking “on”

Try > Settings > Privacy > Motion and Fitness > Fitness Tracking > On.

The iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and older devices will not work with the new handoff feature cause of the lack of a U1 chip embedded inside them, thats why it’s not working

Check your settings, General then AirPlay & Handoff. I had the same issue, and had my Transfer to HomePod off. Hope this helps

Try the handoff feature at your sisters on her network and see if that works.

Thank you JimCzer. Because of your message and the extraordinary patience and expertise of an Apple T2 Tech, my Handoff is now working on both my Home Pod and Home Pod mini. The tech and I tried every setting under the sun to no avail. Because the devices were new, I was reluctant to wipe the iPhone and start from scratch. However, remembering your positive result, I finally agreed. Glad that I did because it ultimately was a software issue (apparently something from the most recent update) that was causing the problem. It is now fixed. My devices are working as they should - cool. Many thanks to you and to the talented Tech Advisor with whom I worked.

Handoff worked when completely wiping the phone and restarting. As soon as I added back the most recent backup, it no longer worked. Not only did it not work on the mini but also on the larger Home Pod original. Was instructed by Apple tech to wipe the phone again and just do without the apps that have taken years to accumulate, settings that have taken months of trial and error to find that worked effectively for me. What do you think, wipe the phone so I have access to the handoff feature.? I don't think so! I can only assume that the problem is on Apple's end. Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe I'm not, but I'm not wiping my phone, and I will remain hopeful that Apple will come out with a fix because I don't think we are the only people having problems..

I am using a (new) 12 Pro Max running 14.2.1 (Update only for all iPhone 12 models). At Apple's instructions, I wiped the phone, set it up manually as new (with no backup info), and it worked briefly. Then, again as instructed by Apple Tech at the beginning of the third call (3rd hour), I used the most recent backup to set up the phone, and Handoff failed. Just as JimCzer above, it was suggested that I just use it without any Apps. A new phone that can't use any apps other than an iffy Handoff function, not what I paid for!!!
