Hello again,
Yes, the Canon (PIXMA) MG5350 is mentioned in the article About AirPrint - Apple Support as a printer supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that the printer is compatible with macOS (Big Sur).
Regarding the firmware, please have a look at https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg5350.html?type=firmware . There is an AirPrint Firmware Updater (Mac) for MG5300 series Ver.1.2b (19 September 2017). Unless already installed, please note the updating details.
Also see the Manual for how to use AirPrint for Mac.
It may not be a bad idea to reset the printing system (steps in the following article) before you add the printer.

Information about how to add the printer can be found here:

It should not be too difficult to make this work. Do you have an existing Wi-Fi network with a router? If so, make sure that the printer and the Mac computer are connected to the same network. Do not hesitate to post back in case of additional questions.
Good luck!

I fixed this for Big Sur 11.1 and the Canon C2225 Imagerunner. It may work for other Canon printers as well.
It worked for me.

Hi,
Have you tried AirPrint via a network connection? The Canon MG3250 is mentioned in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a printer supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that you should be able to use the MG3250 without drivers. See also the guide from Canon Europe (https://www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/apple_airprint_guide/).
If necessary, try resetting the printing system and re-adding the printer.

Many thanks indeed, Old Toad and rkaufmann87 for some excellent advice! After resetting my printer system, I downloaded Gutenprint and it worked first time. I have an old USB Canon MP970 that wouldn't print after installing BigSur. The driver hasn't been updated since Mountain Lion OS, so I thought it was a gonner. Gutenprint brought it back.
The official Gutenprint manual is a bit daunting, but a search around on the web unearthed some reasonably straightforward instructions. Very briefly, this sequence got my printer up and running:
And that should be that! Many thanks to all the contributors to this thread. Very helpful.
I sincerely hope this will make someone happier today. If you are in situation when Canon installer refuses to install because of Big Sur version here's what I did:
mount .dmg drive with downloaded .pkg installer as you would usually do
open Terminal
and run following
SYSTEM_VERSION_COMPAT=1 open /Volumes/mac-UFRIILT-CARPS2LBP-v157-00/UFRII_LT_CARPS2_Installer.pkg
of course replace path with your correct name of mounted volume and installer filename.
Theoretical explanation:
Versioning in Big Sur is doubled - in some cases for certain SDK Big Sur presents itself as 10.16 in other as 11.x
SYSTEM_VERSION_COMPAT=1 environmental variable stting forces it to communicate 10.16 version to installer and Installer swallows that. Hurray!
I got my drivers installed and they work nicely.
Surely this is not guaranteed to work for all printers and driver's packages. But if your driver is said to support Big Sur it should. Do it for your own risk and with considerations.
Please do the following in this order:
Yeah I've got this problem too but have a work around if it helps.
Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. Add printer (+). > IP Printing. Add the IP address of your printer and choose AirPrint in the drop down menu.
Just done it with my Pixma MG7550 and works fine. To find the IP address I used the following:
https://support.usa.canon.com/library/ij/Manual/All/MG7500%20series/EN/AFG/afg_remoteui.html
Until they (Canon) update the drivers this is the only thing I can think of.
Hope it helps

I was finally able to scan. There were two pieces of software that I had to add to the firewall:
Try searching from Canon official website under support or try your luck on Google I just got mine installed (G3000 series wireless printer), using M1 MacBook Air running Big Sur as well. I Googled "G3000 series Big Sur" and it just pop out right away. (the latest software driver)

Hi,
The three support pages below have the same version UFRII printer driver for Big Sur. The US download has a somewhat different file name, seems to be newer (23 Dec 2020), and 11.1 and M1 are mentioned.

The Canon iR-ADV C5250 is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support, so you may want to try it. The AirPrint guide from Canon Europe (for PIXMA models) could perhaps be of some interest: https://www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/apple_airprint_guide/ .

It worked for me.
Your Printer supports AirPrint, you don't need a Canon driver https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/print-mh35838/mac
If you also want to scan: download Canon Scan Utility 2 https://hk.canon/en/support/0200482010/13?model=0617C
FWIW, I tried everything suggested here including resetting printers and settings. Only thing that worked for my new 16" Mac on Big Sur and the old MG4100 printer was simply to select the model from Canon's website, specify Sierra (the last "officially supported" version of the OS), then download and install the utility manually. After that I was able to add the MG4100 in Printers & Settings and it successfully found and connected to the device over Bonjour.
I had this problem with the Canon Pixma MG5250; no version for above Mac OSX 10.13, and the installers from Canon Europe/ NL could not run under Big Sur (11.2.1).
What worked for me was to use the (much better) American website, and use an other model in the 52000 series; in this case the Pixma MG5220. The latest available version of the software is for Mac OSX 10.13 (High Sierra), and these installers can give problems. But somehow it worked when using this order:
The first thing to install is the separate Scanner Driver (ver. 17.7.1c in my case). This installer did work and I could suddenly use the MP EX Navigator version 4.0 (newer versions do not work).
Then I tried again to install the MG5200 series CUPS drivers (ver. 16.20.0.0) and this time the installer DID run...
To my surprise i can now use the printer as before. So technically there is no issue, Canon just doesn't put in the effort to support older printers -even if they still work-.
Hi,
Do you mean the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5550i? If so, drivers appear to be available from Canon for macOS Big Sur:
You may want to check, compare, and test drivers from both sites.
Also, a Canon iR-ADV C5550i is mentioned in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a model supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that it should be possible to use the printer in question without drivers when connected to a network.
Try a printing system reset between tests.
