Hello again,

Yes, the Canon (PIXMA) MG5350 is mentioned in the article About AirPrint - Apple Support as a printer supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that the printer is compatible with macOS (Big Sur).

Regarding the firmware, please have a look at https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg5350.html?type=firmware . There is an AirPrint Firmware Updater (Mac) for MG5300 series Ver.1.2b (19 September 2017). Unless already installed, please note the updating details.

Also see the Manual for how to use AirPrint for Mac.

It may not be a bad idea to reset the printing system (steps in the following article) before you add the printer.

Information about how to add the printer can be found here:

It should not be too difficult to make this work. Do you have an existing Wi-Fi network with a router? If so, make sure that the printer and the Mac computer are connected to the same network. Do not hesitate to post back in case of additional questions.

Good luck!

Hi,

Since the MG5750 can print from an iPhone (sometimes), I assume that you are using a Wi-Fi router (infrastructure mode) and AirPrint.

You may want to try the following: Power off the router, the printer, the computer, all iOS devices, and all other connected devices. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait another two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the computer. Finally, power on the iOS devices, and all other connected devices. Any change?

If necessary, reset the printing system, and then try to re-add the MG5750 (as an AirPrint printer).

Dear Friends,

all you have to do is choose the option AirPrint when you go to preferences to add printer on your Macbook. No need to install drive or softwares. I have IOS Big Sur and bought a Canon PIXMA MX532. I have been struggling with the same issue as you for a whole day, going on the internet reading all the comments to find a possible solution and even bought a cable while it was so easy peasy.🙂

Interesting. I was able to pull the IR C5235 drivers off of the Canon UK site and you are correct--they install without an OS-level error. Definitely not the same package as what they have posted on the US site.

My experience:

1) Canon utility and drivers install successfully and instructs the user to then add the printer.

2) Trying to add the printer, it does not appear as a default option and is does not show as available, even though it's on the network and active.

3) Using the IP option, I can add the IP address of the printer and the utility confirms that the printer is found. I then have to choose the drivers for it to use, which seems to work. You must choose the Line Printer Daemon/LPD option for it to be able to communicate to the printer, not the IPP default.

4) Printer setup finalizes, test print job processes OK.

So looks like things are "working", with a lot of trial and error. If they would start with posting the correct driver set on the US site, that would be a positive step.

Having posted about using an IP printing work around, I've just read about someone downloading Catalina drivers, which I've just tried (from the Canon UK web site), and it seems to print fine now in Big Sur and the scanner works too.

I do also use the VueScan App (by Hamrick I believe?) as I have an old Epson scanner that stopped working on Catalina. It's not a cheap app but seems to recognise any scan device plugged in, and they constantly update it too.

Hello klara111,

Thank you. I cannot find a Canon support page for an MF8300C. Is it possibly a series, where the individual models are called something like MF8350Cdn? Please double-check the exact model (including a suffix).

Using the MF8350Cdn as an example, there are three drivers for Big Sur (scanner, fax, and printer).

I noticed that you had a "no destinations" error. You were not using the fax driver?

Hello,

I have been looking all over online for a solution to this same problem!

As I was about to give in a probably buy a whole new printer, I started looking up printers compaptible with Mac Os Big Sur and came upon a site that listed a bunch of different printers. When I clicked Canon printers it was actually the EUROPEAN version of the ImageClass series called iSensys. Same printer just a different So I googled the ISensys Canon site and found the driver here. Same picture as the Canon ImageClass Mf229dw series just different model name. It worked for me!

Please try this or a similar European version of your printer driver.

Good luck!

I had the same problem getting the updated driver for my macOS Big Sur. Here is how I resolved the issue:

  1. Go to the Canon website: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/support-inkjet-printer/mp-series/pixma-mp560/pixma-mp560?subtab=downloads-drivers
  2. Select the driver for OS X El Capitan v10.11
  3. Download the driver and follow the install instructions
  4. Print

Worked as of 05/30/2021
