I have installed Big Sur. Now I cannot use or download our Canon printer driver......
Hello again,
Yes, the Canon (PIXMA) MG5350 is mentioned in the article About AirPrint - Apple Support as a printer supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that the printer is compatible with macOS (Big Sur).
Regarding the firmware, please have a look at https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg5350.html?type=firmware . There is an AirPrint Firmware Updater (Mac) for MG5300 series Ver.1.2b (19 September 2017). Unless already installed, please note the updating details.
Also see the Manual for how to use AirPrint for Mac.
It may not be a bad idea to reset the printing system (steps in the following article) before you add the printer.
Reset the Mac printing system to solve a problem - Apple Support
Information about how to add the printer can be found here:
Add a printer on Mac - Apple Support
It should not be too difficult to make this work. Do you have an existing Wi-Fi network with a router? If so, make sure that the printer and the Mac computer are connected to the same network. Do not hesitate to post back in case of additional questions.
Good luck!
Here is how I got it to work for MP560.
After resetting reset the printing system, I clicked "+" to add printer, but my MP560 didn't show up.
I went to the canon website to download the driver for MP560.
I need to pick El Capitan as my Operating System for drivers to show up for me to download, as there were no drivers to download for big sur, catalina,
I downloaded/installed both cups and scanner drivers.
Then I clicked "+" sign to add the printer, and my MP560 printer finally showed up.
*work around* If trying to use a Canon MP240 there's no Big Sur driver avail as of July 2021 (and prob never will be) BUT .... there is an MP280 driver and it seems to work fine driving my MP240 printer (for B&W prints so far) I'd suggest trying the same trick with your printer. picks a model as close to yours as you can see and give it a go ! good luck
this helped me fix the issue too
https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1928?locale=en_US downloaded these drivers
then added the apps to the firewall.

In the meantime you might try this workaround: the free, open-source Gutenprint print driver. Check this page to see if your printer is supported: Gutenprint Supported Printers
Having had some circular Facebook messages, for the MG5350 it comes back to "We don't have drivers or software available for macOS Big Sur, ... the printer does have AirPrint which may offer compatibility with Big Sur, but this may be in a limited compatibility. AirPrint was added via a firmware update, and will require the printer and computer to be on the same network. If you call the support team on 02076600186 (Mon-Fri 08:00-20:00, excluding bank holidays), they can look into setting up the printer and help with trying to set it up with the Mac.
For some software applications I have I receive notices saying that it won't work with future Apple updates. At least this gives me time to think about possible alternatives. Received no such message about Canon printer.
Still, there we are. Given Christmas period I think I will wait a couple of weeks and then go and buy a non Canon printer.
Yea scanner works.
It seems that some of the installers on the Canon USA web site are using an older/non Big Sur version. The actual drivers within those packages may be the ones for Big Sur, though doesn't really matter if they can't be installed.
The ones on the Canon UK site do install and work.
It's been over a month and Canon USA hasn't fixed this mistake or even be aware of it. Who ever at Canon USA that is responsible for this, surely needs to be let go for incompetence.
Had the same problem with the Canon Pixma MG6150 of my GF. I bought her a new Macbook Air M1 and at first couldn't have the **** thing to work. Went on canon website where it's stated MacOS Big Sur was not supported. ==> https://fr.canon.be/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg6150.html?type=drivers&language=fr&os=macos%2010.12%20(sierra)
Scrolled down until I found available drivers (in that case with MacOS Sierra). I installed the drivers for the printer and the scanner. I tried before that directly with the IP address of the printer (it's a WIFI one) with no success. Tried after drivers install, still nothing going on just to realize that both printer and scanner have been detected by default when choosing to add the devices. From then on it went smoothly.
Hope that helps
I had the same problem once updated to Big Sur with my Canon TS6320. All I had to do to correct the problem was delete the printer, plug my laptop into the printer directly with a USB cord and reinstall the printer. I don't know if this will solve anyone else's problem but for me, my Canon printer seems to print fine now.
Hi Mr_Pelzhersteller, there is no single quick fix to this problem. In your case, try downloading the G3000 series printer driver from Canon USA Support. It was updated for Big Sur in October 2020 and has allowed me to keep using my G3100 printer in a home wireless setup: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/megatank-inkjet-printers/all-megatank-inkjet-printers/G3200/pixma-G3200?tab=drivers_downloads
Just try an older driver. If that doesn't work (it didn't for me), try Gutenprint driver as suggested in post here from December: http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
That worked like a charm for me.
I went to the cannon site and downloaded the latest software installer for my LB151 printer and it is finally working
It worked to just delete the printer from the printers in system, then just add it from there by searching for a new printer
I read about it in another comment here and it worked for me
In that case I'd try installing from the Safe Mode by booting with the Shift key held down and installing from there.
NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following;
• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading
• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
• Disables user-installed fonts
• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

MF Printer Driver & Utilities for Macintosh V10.11.6 [Mac OS : 10.10.5 - 11.0.1]12/09/2022.21 MB
Interesting, that the Canon website lists an ICA file (driver) under macOS 10.15, but not under macOS 11.0. The MacBook that I'm working on has an M1 processor, moving away from intel. I wonder if a new driver file is needed. The error messages are actually posted in the Apple PrinterProxy software, so searching "PrinterProxy mac Failed to open a connection to the device (-21345)" lead me to a page that suggests allowing the scanner software through the firewall...that eliminated the error message, but didn't get as far as actually allowing scanning.
