Big Sur - randomly goes screen to black.

Hey Guys,

After update to Big Sur I have a quite annoying problem which I temporarily fix it.

I have MacBook Pro 2019 with Touch Bar. And the problem is , that my screen goes randomly black three times or four times etc. when I am working in Safari, watching Netflix or whatever I am doing on Mac. And is repeat couple of times per day + battery going faster drain than before Big Sur.

So I have to couple of times , each day close my Mac and again open and after that screen goes on .... so I am tried restarting NVRAM, SMC, Safe mood all without solution but? One I found myself after days. Problem is with True Tone and Night shift it must be off and after that, is everything fine ( so at first maybe it helps someone ) but does anyone have experience with this? How it can run with True Tone and night shift without problem? I asked apple support, and there is no help, they didn't helped me at neither.

Thanks

Tomas

I have been struggling with this random screen going black on my Mid-2014 MBP at least since summer 2020. Not using external monitors nor anything - I had it fixed in the previous version of Mac by turning off some kind of integrity check (don't remember exactly what I did, because, in the end, I was really desperate). Now after updating to Big sure, the same fix cannot be applied as easy and it requires a rather complex approach.

Extremely disappointed that there are no solutions and Big Sur eliminated the fix that was possible Catalina. Is there any known solution by now?

I have the same issue, using a Mid 2014 Retina MacBookPro. After Big Sur install, i have had random crashes for no reason. The screen just turns black and the computer shuts down. After I restart it repeats the process sometimes ten times within 30 minutes. I have updated the Big Sur to latest version 11.4 with same issues. I replaced the battery thinking it was the issue after etrecheck claimed the battery had failed. But still having same problem. I have done all the resets multiple times and even wiped my computer clean and reinstalled all OS starting with Maverick. I decided not to reinstall Big Sur but instead kept Catalina installed. Worked fine for a few days then with Catalina the computer started crashing again, so reinstalled Big Sur and still crashing. Its an annoying problem that Apple really needs to address, lost work and time dealing with this.as Im sure from the posts alot of others have too.Never hadd these issues with my MAC before.

Same issue. New LG 32" 4k display that reports itself as a 27" in "About this Mac > Displays". I'm using the USB-C cable that came with the monitor to charging and video signal. A couple times a day the LG monitor just randomly goes black for a few seconds, then comes back on. I'm on Big Sur, and I have the Display Port version on the LG monitor set to 1.2 (it defaulted to 1.4 when it was first plugged in, but the color saturation was horrible). This was never an issue when I was using a Dell 34" ultra wide screen.
