Optimized battery charging keeps turning back on

I’m having the same issue. It gives the option to “turn off until tomorrow” or just “turn off” and I keep choosing “turn off” and yet it’s still turning back on every night when I plug my phone in. It’s incredibly frustrating.

The “feature” of it automatically re-enabling optimized battery charging is causing me real problems. Due to my profession, my wake-up time varies widely. Some mornings, I get to sleep until 8am. Other mornings, I must start my day at 2:30am. And those days I don’t have the ability to top off the battery when Apple does me the “favor” of not fully charging my battery. No, giving me the option to have to override the feature every night is not what I want. I want to turn off optimized battery charging, and have it stay off as I directed.

I got brow beaten and bought a new phone after my phone crashed at 70%+ battery charge. Granted we were outside when it was in the 40’s using the phone for Pandora. I do still think the entire thing was update related. Like they they made the battery analytics so battery hogging that it killed the phone. My battery was still working at peak prior to that update with 80% capacity. Everyday after the update it seemed to drop a percentage point. After 6 days from the update it crashed at 70% battery charge. They got me just know they’re doing it.

The exact same thing for me. My phone can be at 60% or so and i will look up and it’s at 1% after barely doing anything but texting. The optimized charging is always on no matter how many times I go and turn it off. I get notifications sometimes for it.

I too had semi success.. Went a good few days - maybe 7 - without optimised battery switching back on.

But no, last night it reared it’s optimised head again. Sadly therefore the five day trick doesn’t work :(

Apple pleeeeease sort this out.

Mine constantly turns itself back on, and I can't stand it. My phone is almost always dead because I don't have a specific charging schedule forget to plug it in at night most of the time and just pop it on and off the charger all day, I use to be able to do that just fine before this stupid battery crap. I'm due for a new phone anyways, I think I'm switching back to android because of this feature.

Can you not read? No one is having the problem of it not activating. Everyone is having the problem of it not turning off. The settings on an iPhone are useless because iPhones do whatever they want to. I turn off battery optimization and it turns itself back on. I turn off auto brightness and the phone will dim while I’m using it. Apple has gone downhill without Steve Jobs.

Updating to the latest iOS hasn’t fixed my battery optimization from turning itself on. However, I’m glad to see it’s not just me. Mine tends to only turn itself on after an update or turning my phone off. The brightness dimming with auto brightness off is ridiculously annoying and one of the reasons I may be going to Samsung next month with my upgrade rather than iPhone 12 Pro.

Same. Also for “improve maps”. Apple support was useless. Looked at diagnostic data and said “your phone is working perfectly.” Yeah right.

Sometimes I wonder if these experts actually read what you wrote. Here for the same issue.

please fix apple. It’s my battery not yours.

Having same issue with 12 mini, iOS 14.2.1. Apple pleeeeease fix this.

Same issue here! It’s my battery/phone, let me use it as I please. (iPhone 11 Pro)

For me it only turns back on after a restart or update.
