Safari freeze when create a password in safari or reset a password

This has been happing to me for a few weeks now on both iPhone 11 Pro and iPad. Drives me nuts. I have to go do thing on my windows laptop just to make purchases etc - anything that requires me to log into an account. Both my devices are now 14.3. As someone suggested, I just tried private browsing and didn’t encounter this issue so yes, that’s a good work around.

noticing a number of bugs on my phone of late. The last OS update fixed the issue i was having of repeated ing having to sign in to my iTunes account and verify payment information. That only took over two months. Wonder how long this one will take for them to cotton on to and address.

Yes it’s very frustrating and only happens when being promoted to either create or update password. All started with iOS 14 for me. The workaround I found is to temporarily disable Auto Fill Passwords then create password or change password whatever trying to accomplish then go back and enable the Auto Fill Password.

Same with me on my iPhone 12 pro max with iOS 14.4 , so i tried a trick way to solve it and simply you have to go to setting then passwords then AutoFill passwords and press on toggle to turn off this feature and your iPhone well stop freezing

The update took care of the problem for me. None of the workarounds suggested here worked for me. Apple says the problem was Safari, but I had the same problem with Google Chrome so it was more than just that. If you update and the problem doesn't go away I would go into an Apple store and have them look at it because it did fix the problem for a lot of people. Of course, I can't say all people were fixed because not everyone posted back. I hope it works for you so you don't have to pursue it any further. It was extremely frustrating and was a problem for many months until they "fixed" it with the update. I'm using version 14.6 and I have an iPhone X. Good luck!

Another user posted that you can enter the passwords in private browsing on all devices without it freezing and I’ve found that to be very effective.

Turning off "autofill passwords" seems to work for us.

In my case, turning off and turning back on Keychain did the trick. I haven’t had any issues since then.

I had this for a long time now but i found a solution all you have to do is go to settings>passwords>remove autofill passwords

It’s the auto fill password. Turn that off in settings until they fix the glitch.

i resolved this my turning off Detect Compromised Passwords. You can always re-enable it afterwards

Same problem...after reading replies I turned off password auto fill. FYI... I noticed that apple’s now showing me a list of sites that my passwords have been involved in a known breach or leak... recommending that I need to change all these passwords. List coincides with all my saved passwords along with the few accounts I was unable to create because of this problem.

Hayley I think I’ve found a workaround for now!

settings > safari > auto fill if you uncheck use contact info then I can use websites that need passwords, it may work for you until apple soet a permanent fix!

I have had the same problems on my pad when trying to change passwords. Keypad won’t appear and Safari then freezes. Fortunately can still change passwords in Private Mode but obviously it won’t save automatically so then have to go back into Settings and Passwords and save it there. Thinking about it, this has been going on for a while I suspect not last update, which was last week but the one before, although can’t be sure. Earlier problems just meant it took ages for the key pad to come up but did eventually. This week however just nothing at all, Safari just froze completely.

I am glad it’s not just me as I was thinking my Pad was ready for the bin!
