Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. It sounds like QuarkXPress isn't working with Big Sur.


Have you checked for updates to this app? You could also try deleting and reinstalling the app. You can confirm compatibility with Big Sur by testing QXP inside a new user account: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac


We'd next suggest contacting QXP support if there are no updates available or if it still isn't working in the new user.

In case your "I'm just wondering why it should take you more than a week to answer my question" was addressed to me?

I don't work for Quark! but noticed that other people like you had the same problem as I.

I only wrote previous post, to let you know, that it will take, at least, another two weeks. This according to the Quark support.

I bought QuarkXPress 2020 in September 2020, and I haven't been able to open it since I downloaded Big Sur recently. Quark Express is clearly not compatible with Big Sur. Why not? This is terrible service. I'm completely stuck with my work. It's now 8 December. Will Quark Xpress issue a download to correct this by 17 December latest? They certainly should.

Did you get it working yet? I got an email on 22 Dec 2020 from Quark saying it now works on BigSur. When I tried to upgrade to Big Sur in Nov 2020 it didn't work and I had to revert back to Catalina (vey painful process).

Ok I finally seem to have got both QXP2019 and QXP2020 working on Big Sur (even though Quark support agent said QXP2019 will not work own Big Sur) and QXP2020 would not start up after installing the 16.2 update on Big Sur. All I ddi was flip my iMac in to safe mode, ran QXP2020 which miraculously started, then ran the QXP Cache cleaner function, then flipped iMac back to Normal mode , and voila all is good. Not a good experience at all but at least I hope it is working again....
