I just updated to macOS Big Sur, and when I try to open a file in QXP 2020 the program close down. ?????

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. It sounds like QuarkXPress isn't working with Big Sur.

Have you checked for updates to this app? You could also try deleting and reinstalling the app. You can confirm compatibility with Big Sur by testing QXP inside a new user account: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

We'd next suggest contacting QXP support if there are no updates available or if it still isn't working in the new user.

Was QuarkExpress indicazatin that there would be a Big Sur update or QuarkExpress updated in 2 weeks? Big Sur released an update today to 11.1 from 11.01. Have you install it and checked QuarkExpress?

I just bought Quark XPress 2020 today, only to discover that it doesn't work on Big Sur 11.0.1

However their support informed me, that QXP will work with Big Sur in 2 weeks. Hope they are right and that QXP will be running without any problems.

I don't work for Quark! but noticed that other people like you had the same problem as I.

I only wrote previous post, to let you know, that it will take, at least, another two weeks. This according to the Quark support.

I bought QuarkXPress 2020 in September 2020, and I haven't been able to open it since I downloaded Big Sur recently. Quark Express is clearly not compatible with Big Sur. Why not? This is terrible service. I'm completely stuck with my work. It's now 8 December. Will Quark Xpress issue a download to correct this by 17 December latest? They certainly should.

Did you get it working yet? I got an email on 22 Dec 2020 from Quark saying it now works on BigSur. When I tried to upgrade to Big Sur in Nov 2020 it didn't work and I had to revert back to Catalina (vey painful process).

Nah 16.2 didn't work either, QXP2020 won't open, same error as QXP2019... "Quit Unexpectedly".

I am SOOOO frustrated with this wretched Big Sur upgrade. Looks I am gong to have to regress back to Catalina AGAIN just to get poorly tested version of QXP to work.

Ok I finally seem to have got both QXP2019 and QXP2020 working on Big Sur (even though Quark support agent said QXP2019 will not work own Big Sur) and QXP2020 would not start up after installing the 16.2 update on Big Sur. All I ddi was flip my iMac in to safe mode, ran QXP2020 which miraculously started, then ran the QXP Cache cleaner function, then flipped iMac back to Normal mode , and voila all is good. Not a good experience at all but at least I hope it is working again....

I can not open or create a quark file since updating Big Sur Mac; 11.1

I did all updates. Same problem: I cannot open Quark. Please fix immediately.

There is a QuarkExpress update 16.2. You just need to go into Quark Updates. Then your Quark will work with Big Sur. Mine does now. All best Caroline
