I have just updated my Mac to Big Sur and I notice that now Preview app contains a play/pause button for PDF documents also on full screen mode (not only on Slideshow). I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove this toolbar.

Yet again, Apple has ruined a perfectly good working application with an annoying useless feature that no one will ever use when viewing a pdf. I now regret upgrading to Big Sur. Thanks for the big middle finger, Apple. Deleting preview now for Adobe, shame on you Apple.
I can understand that this playback overlay may be a bit annoying, but it sure doesn't impede you from annotating a pdf.
Notice: It takes a while for the bar to appear in this process of right-click followed by simple click. I am not sure if the bar appears after some time or if it appears because of the right-click.

I am also still waiting for a solution, sorry. Apparently preview is with some bugs to be fixed.
Hey Luis! Yes, It does happen whilst in Safe Mode. I will try creating a new account to see what happens.
This is happening with me also. Very frustrating. Please fix it.
I was alerted on another thread that there is a simple solution. Just take your hands off the trackpad and it goes away. You can navigate easily using the arrow keys.
This can't be a solution for me, I have to annotate pdfs as I view them.
You may have to make a slideshow if the pdf pages with another app like Keynote and see it that will play without the control panel in view.
Well, as far as I know you cannot open a .pdf on Keynote. Moreover, this solution involves opening a second app for doing something that preview was perfectly able to handle...
Yes but there are apps to export each page of a PDF as a jpeg file and you can use that in a Keynote presentation.
