Iphone 11 Sounds and Haptics turns my bluetooth headset volume down

Since the last software update, every time I use my bluetooth headset, my phone will randomly through the day turn my volume down, with a message that "Sounds and Haptics has turned your volume down". I don't want it to turn my volume down, it's not nearly as high as it seems to think and on top of that I only use one earbud, so it's at a comfortable volume for what I'm doing. But there is no setting anywhere that I can find that prevents it from doing this.

I've gone into "Headphone safety" and switched the "Reduce Loud Sounds" to OFF, but it still does it.

I read somewhere that "Ringer and Alerts-Change with Buttons" might have something to do with it, so I switched that to OFF, and it still does it.

This is really tiresome and not a setting I want, but there seems to be nothing anywhere that helps! Why?

This has nothing to do with the Attention Aware system. It is the Sounds and Haptics that are reducing the volume of my music/audiobooks through the day as it has decided I’m listening to it too loudly. If I wanted a nanny, I’d hire one, I DO NOT need my phone to be making these decisions for me. Apparently, I’ve learned in the many threads about exactly the same thing, this is a feature that cannot be switched off. It is offensive and, as it’s doing it with some people’s satnav connections, potentially dangerous.

Hello why1040,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We understand that since the last software update you did, every time you use your Bluetooth headset the will randomly lower the volume. We're happy to help!

Let's try checking to see if you possibly have Attention Aware Features enabled which could cause the volume to lower. Follow the steps in this article:
