iPhone 12 pro max keeps dimming

I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and it constantly dims. I made sure the Automatic button was off, it still dims. I went to answer the phone and it had dimmed itself down to an almost completely dark screen. I am constantly having to reset the brightness back to where I can see the screen. Any "bright" ideas?

So.. I had my apple appointment yesterday, I made sure to video the screen dimming too before I went in, I showed them the videos and explained the issue I was having, to which they admitted was very strange, they said it’s most like software based to which I agreed, but i said, what are you going to do about it, to which they responded, there’s nothing we can do, other than try a screen replacement, so I said go ahead. Now, to do the screen replacement they have to plug the device into a diagnostic machine which will look for a fault and then allow them to do a repair, so they did this, and to both mine and the employees surprised, there were 5 faults with the device! It failed the screen test, the face I.D test, ambient lighting test and two other which I forget, but this meant that they couldn’t do a screen replacement as there were many more issues, so their solution… they straight up replaced my device there and then in the shop! I was gob smacked at this point as usual you’d hear horror stories of how they will blame you and send you away! So far it’s been 24hrs, no screen dim! I’ve even done the things I did before to make it happen, and nothing! So for now, I am happy, I hope this device continues to perform correctly and if I do experience any issues I will be sure to note them here!

my advise, video your issue on another device and head to your nearest apple store!

My iPhone keeps heating up .

It's definitely a heat issue.

A cheap nasty case won't allow the phone to breathe therefore nowhere for heat to dissipate.

Get the case off , you will find its probably baking hot but will quickly return to normal.

I bought a case for a £100 from a Spanish firm called Piel Frama. They appear to make amazing claims on their products but I believe they are just a front for s massive drugs operation.

Their cases are troublesome and I am fuming at them. I have demanded a full refund.

STAY AWAY FROM A COMPANY CALLED PIEL FRAMA.

If your phone dims ,get the case off immediately

I have the same issue with iPhone 12 Pro Max , I had iPhone 11 Pro Max, i had issues with that unfortunately, that was stolen so I had to get this 12 pro max and this phone is disgusting as **** the screen freezes all the time the keyboard stops working sometimes. I went to the Apple store (Market mall,Calgary) and they said they don’t have any issue with the phone just probably restore the phone and restart it as a new device not just I lost all the data which they said that I have a back up plus no improvement in the phone and they denied to replace my phone.

I found the fix!!!

I had the same issue and had changed all of my settings, but it was still always dim. I tried everything, went to my cell store, the local Apple repair vendor and still - nothing. I then called Apple and was told to go to Settings: General: Reset: Reset all Settings.

Problem solved!

NOTE: You will lose some personal settings, WiFi passwords, etc, but that’s preferable to paying for an unnecessary repair!

I hope this helps!!!!

This appears to have fixed it:

“There is a auto brightness in the accessibility under display and text you need to turn off as well. This fixed my issue.”

As far as Apple should be concerned, this is a massive usability bug. There’s no reason for this setting to be under “Accessibility”. It’s unintuitive, it breaks the existing UI grouping model, and they should fix it by moving all brightness controls to “Display & Brightness”.

This is affecting everyone I know, so the blast radius must be large.

Do you run heavy games? I notice when I play a game like Mobile Legends, my phone will heat up so much that my screen dims to almost the lowest dim possible.

Also, the iPhone has that all-metal casing which is a huge heat conductor.

I have also read that it could be a problem if you're not using the latest iOS version on your phone.

This is incredibly annoying because I had a Samsung s20 ultra, I upgraded early with AT&T to an iPhone 12 pro max. I never once had this issue with my Samsung S20 ultra. But ALWAYS have this issue with my **** iPhone.

iPhone needs a better ventilation system, and probably a **** fan inside it like a computer does to cool it down because these things get so freakin hot.
