iPhone 12 Pro Max Bluetooth Issues

Hello,

I am having Bluetooth connection issues with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I could not been able to connect my iPhone to my headphones. (Denon AH-GC30). My iPhone does not see my headphones. Below what i did before asking this question.

I checked my headphones with my iPhone 7 plus - It works.

I checked my headphones with my Macbook Pro - It works.

Then i checked Bluetooth versions - both iPhone 12 Pro Max and my Headphones support version 5.

Lastly - i restarted my iPhone, updated to last version of iOS, reset network settings, but Bluetooth of my iPhone Does not see my Headphones.

What is wrong with it? Why such expensive phone, do not see my headphones, but my old iPhone does? Both have the same iOS 14.2.1.

(P.S. - could not select iPhone 12 Pro Max in device field, it does not exists here)

I cannot connect my 12 Pro Max to my cars Bluetooth (hands free calling only). It’s been driving me crazy.

I also have an issue with the echo auto. The phone keeps thinking it’s a pair of headphones instead of a Bluetooth speaker and keeps turning down the volume after a certain period of time.

It’s so annoying and I’ve been back and forth with Apple support and their engineers and they basically told me to contact Amazon—even though it works fine on my XS Max and 6s+.

This is so annoying and needs to be addressed immediately. When I’m driving this is a safety hazard.

I have the same issue with my iPhone 12 Pro. I pair it with my Volvo xc60 2011 Bluetooth system (just hands-free, nothing else). It is paired, but they don't interact properly. Sometimes I can make one call and after it, they stop interacting. They both show as connected to each other but it does not work.

My previous iPhone 6s and 7 worked perfectly. I checked my iPhone 7 with iOS 14.4 it still works perfectly. So I am not sure if it still a software or hardware issue. Apparently, they broke backward compatibility for some older BT standards.

I've submitted a ticket via the feedback form. Hope they will fix it.

It is ridiculous. I bought one of the most expensive phones and I cannot drive safely!

I bought 2 iPhone 12 Pro Max phones for me and my wife. She connected to her 2020 jeep and my doge truck. It works fine hands free. I set my phone up in my truck. It sets up fine but when I try to voice call it says calling but in 5 seconds it says call canceled. I can receive call or make calls trough my phone but can’t use hands free option. My phone didn’t work in her car either. Apple replaced phone but I have the same issue. Many many hrs of tech support. They told me engineering is working on it. That was a month ago. My iPhone 6 worked fine. I can’t call hands free through Siri either.

I phone 12 max pro has been a huge disappointment. It doesn’t recognize any Bluetooth devices. I have reset my phone twice. I have reset the WiFi connection. I have tried every recommended remedy for the Bluetooth problem to no avail. I want to smash this peace of junk on the Flloor.

Apple is a BS company that doesn’t give a crap about it’s customers..

I am new to Apple, first one was the 12 maxipad or whatever they call it. I had a lot of trouble and got a new one, Still had a lot of trouble. A friend had given me his old 6s to play with first. I fumbled around and set up a pretend account or two to get it working. I got it all fixed up, signed up, paired up etc. I read something about previous pairing, accounts, icloud, blah, blah, etc. Out of desperation or sheer stupidity/ignorance I cleared up the old 6s, unpaired everything and made sure there was nothing on backup either. Then I tried to pair several BT devices on the 12 (mpow, bose, apple, taotronics and a few more no name gizmos) Well darn if they didn't all work perfectly. Even added em back to the antique and they worked there too unless they were not capable of dealing with being paired to 2 hosts simultaneously. Now I may not have fixed anything, maybe new software d/l fixed it or the stars lined up differently. I have no clue. I just know it worked for me and has been flawless for about 6 months and accepts about anything I throw at it. Don't ax me how or why 'cuz I'm really old and understand none of this stuff. Best of luck.

Omg I’m so glad I found this thread I’m not alone. It’s not exactly the same issue as the original poster but it’s terrible none the less. I got my 12 PM when it was released but didn’t have any problems until about Jan 2021. I am able to connect with devices fine but the connection drops constantly. This happens with all devices including car, UE Boom, Bose SoundTouch, Ghostek Over-ears, AirPods and the brand new AirPods Max. On all connection types as well, including in airplane mode with only Bluetooth enabled and whether I am streaming or playing downloaded music. I’m pretty in the know with tech stuff and I’m aware of the limitations of Bluetooth and by no means pushing it. I have had audio drop out completely, skip, and make strange noises and/or distort for 5-20 seconds while the video/podcast/source appear to still be playing. On car and AirPods, noticeable because it’s audible and visible, it will reconnect sometimes multiple times over and over. I have reset what devices I can and Apple has replaced the back (internal components) of my iPhone as well as an entirely new unit. So far Apple Support agents (senior advisors) have replaced with no further troubleshooting or told me that they are sure it’s a software issue and that Apple will fix it at some point in a future update. Pretty crappy to make an almost wireless phone and then crash and burn on the Bluetooth if you ask me.

I gave up on Alexa. I stopped pairing to them because they would force my phone to pair even when connected to something else already and I couldn’t win the game. But I did test on one and had the same issues. It woke me up about three times during the night as Alexa loudly proclaimed that my phone had been disconnected. I pay $10 for Spotify on top of my Apple Music so I can listen on them easier and have multi room music.

I had posted the same problem on this thread a couple months ago. Just recently GJ69hud posted the solution - unpair your blue tooth device. So I followed the instructions to unpair my Sennheiser momentum headphones, then paired to my new iPhone 12 Pro Max and I am back in business. I wonder if I can pair my headphones to two different iPhone generations - something to figure out another day. I also read resetting your device i.e. headphones back to the factory settings.

I am having EXACTLY the same issues! I just upgraded from the XS to the 12 Pro 2 weeks ago. After trying everything I called apple support and they ran analytics remotely and said it was a bluetooth problem with the phone and told me to go and exchange it for a new phone at the appple store. I did that last week but I am still having the same issues. I guess if it's a handset hardware problem I have probably been given a replacement from the same factory made batch so thus the same hardware problem. I have tried everything - upgraded to latest ios, upgraded my car software (Subaru 2020 model), forgot all bluetooth devices, reset the phone etc. And still - every time I get into my car the audio cuts in and out until I turn bluetooth off on my phone and then turn it on and reconnect. I'm at the point where I'm seriously considering returning this 12 Pro phone and going back to the XS which worked PERFECTLY!! Not good enough appple....
