iPhone with full storage stuck on apple logo

For years I've known that I should update my iCloud storage because neither my iPhone nor my Mac have worked in full capacity but have just never gotten around to do it. Two days ago I finally bought 50GT of storage and went on to try to backup my phone. I was running out of storage on my phone but thought that with the extra iCloud storage I could still backup the phone. After pressing "backup", I noticed that none of my apps worked. I also tried launching settings but every time it just went back to the home screen. I tried restarting my phone a couple of times and after that didn't work, I did a hard restart (volume up, volume down and pressing the side button). It has been stuck on the Apple logo since. Sometimes the screen goes black and the logo comes back, but most of the time it's just the logo so I figured it's not the phone trying to continuously reboot. I've tried hard restarting with the apple logo stuck over ten times and the screen does usually go black and then the apple logo comes back but nothing past that has happened. Is my only option really to just connect to my Mac and risk losing everything since with the full storage none of my 20k pictures are backed up?

I was able to connect my iPhone to my Mac, but since the storage on my phone is full, the computer can't update the phone. It seems like my only option here is to restore the phone, right? Is there any way to back up photos or any other data when the phone is stuck, or should I just give up and do the restore?

Hi there, tablevv.

It appears that you're having a problem with your iPhone. You upgraded your iCloud storage in order to back up your iPhone to iCloud. But, once you tapped "Back Up", none of your applications would work. Then, after restarting your iPhone, it appears to be stuck on the Apple logo. We understand how important it is that your iPhone work as expected, and we're glad to help with this.

The first link tells me to locate my phone on my computer. The AppleSupport website says: "Make sure that your iOS or iPadOS device is unlocked and on the Home screen." The original problem was, that my iPhone is stuck on the Apple logo, which means that I can't unlock the phone or get to my home screen.
