low fixed volume on FaceTime and Skype on iPad Pro 4th generation 2020 version 14.2

I hear low (volume) on facetime and skype; however, the other person can hear me well. I checked the following: my friend talking while I change manually the volumen (high & low) and I hear her the same (like locked), I talk and change my volume manually and she hears no difference. However, when she changes her volume, she can hear me with higher or lower volume, but when she changes the volume and I speak there is no difference for her. She is able to change her volume when I talk, but I am not, neither on my side, nor if she changes, I do not notice any difference. 

This problem happens with facetime and skype (meaning an App downloaded but also the App that comes with apple applications). 

I tried Voice memos and if I record and change the volume it will record at the same volume, but when I finished and play the recording, I can increase or lower the volume. I checked with my Mac and this feature for Voice memos works the same way for Mac, so seems to be set that way, so I disregard this App.

Sound works with: Music, safari, rings:

When I hear the App “music” I can change the volume to high or low; if I hear a video on safari for e.g youtube, I can also change the volume to high or low. When the ipad rings for an incoming skype call, it is very loud if I have it at high volume. 

The sound seems to work but appears to be “locked” at low level with facetime and skype.

I tried all the following without success:

1. update the software to the latest

2. Settings – sound - move back and forth the ring and alert line to high and low (now I left it in the middle). The change w buttons is on (green).

3. turn off bluetooth

4. the lock sound is off (I changed it on and off a few times)

5. I did the analytic with apple and the sound is good.

6. the ipad pro is new, so no dirt, no cover, only the original apple keyboard. I tried without the keyboard and the problem persists.

7. I read a suggestion to uninstall skype (I did not try yet), but facetime is having the same problem.

8. I use the other devices in the same area / location (iphone, MacAir, Mac) with skype and facetime without inconvenience.

9. Apple told me to restore the ipad. I was trying to find out another solution before the headache of installing all the Apps again; and because the sound works with some App, it is not that I have no sound.

I wonder why Apple or Microsoft don’t address this problem which is clearly not new. I have had the same experience with an older iPad with some older versions and the latest version of the operating system and on a new iPad 11 pro. The volume is fine with streamed films, music and YouTube videos but not with Skype. There must be an issue with either the Apple or Microsoft software - why don’t they fix it?

I restored the iPad as suggested by Apple; however, FaceTime and Skype still have "fix low volume".

I chose the option to back up the iPad on my Mac (computer), in addition, it asked me for an update before continuing with the restoring. I went back to settings and the iPad showed as last update; nevertheless, I accept the new update for the iPad from the computer Mac. It said that was downloading the iPad software and took one hour and half (I saw videos of restoring iPad which were taking 5'); my iPad has no documents, no photos, but has an App for books (I purchased very large books with many images, so they take space, which can only be downloaded for offline use in iPad or iPhone (not Mac), I need them for work avoiding carrying the heavy books; I clarify this issue because perhaps is the reason that took so long to do the process.

When it finished it asked to use the iPhone to get my info in the iPad.

The iPad was as before the restoring, meaning I had all the App and emails accounts, except those above mentioned books that are in an App (those, I had to download them again). Therefore, I did not need to install everything again, contrary to what I was told by Apple representative by chat who suggested to restore the iPad, and told me that the back up was only for documents and photos, but not App.

My only concern is if this option of restoring with the backup was a "complete" restore, or to be considered as such, I need to restore without getting all the Apps and emails back in my iPad, and then install all of them one by one.

In conclusion, if the restore was correctly done this way, it did not work to solve this problem of "FIX LOW VOLUME with FACETIME AND SKYPE". Volume still works fine with Music, safari, youtube, and ring from incoming Skype call. I do not have phone on this iPad.

For the previous reply from Moosbach4 which I appreciate, I am not sure if sending the iPad back to Apple (to fix or change) will really solve the problem (still under warranty), and until I get it back, I will be without the iPad which I need for work.

I am not an expert but I have this problem on two iPads. It is statistically unlikely that I have been unlucky enough to have landed up with two dud iPads! I notice on TV that Skype users use EarPods. The our problem may be their problem too? I wonder whether the low volume is a way to encourage sales of earphones? Older iPads with older operating systems were loud enough with Skype but recently since Skype was updated the old iPads will not run Skype. I would not restore your iPad - I think the problem is either down to Apple or Skype - they need to sort the problem instead of staying silent! If you google the problem you will see that we are not alone!

Apple told me to restore without having the App automatically into the iPad.

The back up I did previously, the Apple representative said that was fine, but then I followed the restore instructions to do it with the iPhone, and this last part was not ok to do it for this purpose. However, another Apple representative said that was a complete restore if the iPad said Hello like from the beginning. In conclusion, I did the restore again and got the iPad to "zero", no App, so I downloaded them one by one. The problem persisted.

Then, I tried something different and very simple: higher the volume with the buttons (those on the side of the iPad like in the iPhone, the ones that changes the volume, next to the start button). At least for me, that worked. When I told the Apple representative, she said that is always that way; however, the other representative was referring to swipe the upper right corner and higher the volume from there which was not working for me; but apparently that is not the way to higher the volume with faceTime and Skype; nevertheless, the swipe way does work for "Music App" and safari: x e.g. youtube videos. After so many hours spent with Apple, the solution was very basic.
