Horizontal lines on MacBook Pro 15" 2016
Hi,
I own a MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar Late 2016 and shortly after my Apple Care expired, I started seeing horizontal lines on the display.
In the beginning it was only once every 5 times I opened the laptop, but now these lines are always there when the lid is open. The lines disappear when I close the lid half way, similar to what other users reported in other posts (links below). The MacBook is in perfect condition, this really seems related to a design flaw, like the backlight issue (https://support.apple.com/13-inch-macbook-pro-display-backlight-service).
I've already taken it to an authorised Apple service shop and to an Apple store to get it checked. Both said the screen has to be replaced and that would cost around 700-800,- euro.
They also ran a special check to see if there are no other issues with the machine, for which they found nothing else was wrong.
I've already reset and updated the OS to the latest version. Nothing helped.
This is very unfortunate, since I trusted Apple machines to be durable and reliable when making my purchase decision, and so far it is letting me down.
Is there any chance that this model will be included in a recall program since there are many other people reporting the same issue? Or are there any other solutions for my case?
Similar cases (This is very similar to what some 13'' users reported, so I'll also link them below):
