Application menu bar is not responding on MI Mini

Many thanks how do you disconnect the monitor? I would be worried about doing it while hot (with the power on pulling the cable).

I wonder why Apple has not responded to this problem.

Many thanks. I agree that is the usual solution when they do not understand the cause of the problem. It may help for the problem seems random and not impacting all users, or this page would be fuller. Let us know how it turns out. One question, from what age computer did you upgrade and how did you restore? Mine was so old they had me use time machine to transfer on the documents and photos, not the full backup. I "restored" from a mid-2011 Mac Mini (a beautiful machine), but restore is not the right idea. I copied some files over to the new Mac Mini M1 and I made new installs of a few apps such as TurboTax, but I've kept the new M1 pretty clean and I have the old Mini on my network so I can access stuff there when I need it. For example, I did not copy my 70GB music library to the M1. I know, way too much music!

I have just upgraded to a new Mac mini with M1. I can not get a response when I mouse over a Menu Item in any Application. My old 2018 Mac mini is siting beside the new M1 and it works fine. Both systems are on Version 11.0.1.

I have the problem with just one monitor connected by a direct HDMI cable from the mini to the monitor HDMI port.

I have exactly same problem. It is MacBook Air - M1 connected to an external monitor over a HDMI (USB-C to HDMI Adapter I have. This I have been using it in my old MacBook Pro - Intel for a while and was perfect.

I also use this MacBook Air like a shell (with lid closed). Opening and Closing lid makes it responsive ;).

So, Apple keeps making me exercise by opening and closing a lid.

As was noticed that is not a cure for the mini. Next time it happens I will try shutting off the monitor and is whether that helps. I’m not comfortable pulling the cable while the mini and the monitor are running.

Didn't even need to unplug. Just lifted the lid and clicked with the trackpad on the menu.

(Setup: M1 Macbook Air; plugged into large external monitor, keyboard via Mokin USB-C hub + and bluetooth mouse. I usually leave the macbook lid closed when I plug in. )

Mine did it (Mac mini) constantly (every few hours) for the first two weeks but has not done it since. Have no idea why it stopped. There are of course other aspects of Big Sur that are painful (I keep a MacBook Pro handy tp search emails in mail as Big Sur cannot fond a thing for some reason) but at least the M1 chip isn't one of them.

I've been a previous poster on this topic. Mac mini M1 with dual displays. I just upgraded to 11.4 and I can confirm that the issue persists, at least for my configuration. It took me 1 minute to drive the system to non-responding application menus.

I wouldn't be too shocked by Apple's couldn't give a toss attitude, you get used to it eventually. I've watched issues like this roll by for years where Apple don't pass comment. A fix usually turns up, eventually, unannounced.

What do you mean by "get a response"?

Same freeze problem M1 with latest OS. Help desk never heard of it!

Same issue. MacBook Air (M1, 2020) on Big Sur, 11.2.1

Why does Apple support say they never heard of this issue? I think each of us should contact the press.

I am also having this problem with a new Mac Mini (M1). Anyone had any luck with Apple support?
