Omg mines did too thank god my AppleCare maxed out all the charges and extra fees that would’ve been required without AppleCare. I recently just sent in my iPhone 12 Pro Max to a apple repair center last week cause my back camera lenses cracked on me which caused my front camera to be unresponsive. So hopefully if I’m lucky enough they can probably replace the entire phone for me free at no charge cause this is is brand new phone I got it a few months ago from Verizon they sent it free but the thing is that if my phone is new how come the camera got broken the first few weeks of having it. I hope they can give me a fresh one I already updated my iCloud so I won’t lose all my data and information.
I’ve had a few iPhones and never a smashed camera lense. I’m an artist and take lots of photos, so I need the çamera. I had to replace my recent iPhone8, of 2 years, because the camera lense literally smashed! I don’t remember doing anything such as ‘commando rock climbing’ with it to cause such damage. Apple basically said too bad and I bought a new iphone12 mini $$$. I refused to spend extra $ on top of that for protection! The lenses are supposed to be super tuff, which there not and in this world of QR coding, our phones are constantly in and out of pockets and bags, so more likely to be dropped.
So I’ve placed a protective cover on the back, the same as the ones you place on the screens. I know this is a bit rudimentary but it works so far. Also the protective screen doesn’t stick to the camera lense because of the case that the phone sits in. Basically you’ll be taking a photo through a clean window. Good luck!
You don't remember doing anything, but obviously you did.
It could have been something as simple as accidentally setting your phone down on its back harder than you remember.
If you don't want to pay for AppleCare+, that's fine; you don't have to have collision coverage auto insurance either, but in both cases if damage occurs you will have to pay for it out of pocket.
There was no sarcasm at all in what I stated.
The lenses don't shatter without impact with something, regardless if you remember it or not.
My statement regarding AppleCare+ was also a basic statement of fact, no snark intended.
Too many people with cracked lenses!!!!!!! Design flaw! $8 online for glass and half the price of phone to get repair from Apple??? This does not compute! My phone fell 6" from my leg to the ground! My first iPhone and probably my last.
Apple couldn't process me for some reason so I was forced to purchase phone through T-Mobile and then no Apple Care!!! T -Mobile "protection plan" is a farce and now I'm stuck with no camera. Going with a Sony Experia next phone! Why no providers handle Sony is beyond me. The consumer is stuck with no decent choices to speak of. A $1299 phone whose lense shatters from a fall from my leg on ground to the ground is not acceptable.
Same thing happened to me right after I got my new iPhone 12 Pro max
i dropped it and one of the camera covers broke. I am at a screen repair place and they say they have to replace all the cameras now and it will be $180 😟
this happened to me as well! i didn't drop my phone, i just looked down one day and saw a crack across my top lens! I am so upset as I have spent 1200 on this phone and it is already broken. doesn't affect photo quality much but it still sucks that I can't sell it for full resale price or full trade in value now.
Make sure you have apple care, apple will charge you $599 to replace the phone if you do not have apple care.
If you can’t get Apple care then expect to pay a hefty price to replace it, they can’t just fix the lens they replace the phone.
This has happened to me aswell. I don’t know what to do
This happen to me as well! The same camera lense does anyone know how much they charge.
The same thing happened to me, now the photos are blurry :(
me Too. I think it’s a defect and Apple should be sending everyone a cover. I have had an iPhone for 10 years and no issues. After two months it cracked.

Correct; if you didn't have AppleCare+ it would have been much, much more expensive.
