Why Apple wired keyboard A1243 doesn't work with my new MacMini M1?
I can't even go through the initial computer setup.
I tried to plug it into all the available USB connectors and it was unsuccessful.
This keyboard works great with MacMini 2012 but new MacMini M1 doesn't recognize it.
Apple, whats going on with your new products?

I can confirm this.
Something about the USB ports on the new Mac does not provide power to the keyboard, neither the USB-A or USB-C ports work with this keyboard.
I was able to get it to work by connecting it to a powered USB hub (AKA a hub that has an AC adapter that you plug into a wall). An unpowered hub did not work.

I had 11.1 and installed 11.2 last night. Still works.
MacOs 11.2 - Apple wired keyboard A1243 still doesn't work. Logitech MX Master 2S still doesn't work.
MacOs 11.2 - Cheap chinese keyboard still works. Cheap chinese Mouse still works.
Having the same issue, Brand new MacBook Pro 13 M1. Cant get a USB-C wire douse to work or even be recognized at all. any solutions?
I've had luck using a powered USB hub with the keyboard. Every once in a while it will have issues, unplugging/plugging USB connection to Mini sometimes corrects it.
Is the problem still persisting with the latest updates?
I am on 11.2.1 and the issue remains for me, A1243 keyboard doesn't work at all unless passed through a hub.
Still doesn't work on 11.2.2
If you cann return this unit and get new one, maybe you have got faulty unit.
Its softwate or drivers related. Apple didn't polish big sur for this new chips. New chips, new drivers.
I have Logitech Triathlon M720 and it is working superb and snappy on M1 Big Sur connected on Bluetooth and not unified reciever.

but don't know if I need an adaptor as well? Do you know? Still trying to do initial set up.!
Ok thanks. So are you saying that I can use a non-apple keyboard and mouse and plug straight into usb ports without the need for any kind of adaptor?
