Freestyle LibreLink no longer working with iphone

I have been using the Freestyle Libre system for about 18 months, and have been pleased with the performance. Today, I went through the sensor replacement routine, and activated the sensor using the handheld Freestyle scanner, as usual. However, when I tried to recognize the sensor with the iphone app, could not detect the sensor. Thought it might be the sensor, so replaced it. Again, activation with the handheld scanner succeeded, but no communication with the iphone app. Using IOS 14.2. Could it be a mechanism in the iphone itself has failed?

Just to follow up my previous post regarding this issue to confirm that once delivered the phone to apple assistance after 3 days they replaced it with a new one which is now working properly with my free style sensor. The NFC chip apparently failed.

For good order's sake you must do a full back up and after restoring the back-up to a replacement phone you will need to

re-confirm all the passwords and identity credentials that you may have - this is rather more complicated than I would have immagined after a week I still have a couple of apps needing some attention due to having forgotten initial passwords as the security systems identify the replacement phone as "a new device". So bottom line is don't hesitate and get the phone to an apple assistance store immediately.

Just fyi I don’t know why out phones stopped working with Freestyle app. It worked fine on my husband’s phone. So, i could upgrade so I got a new phone. It’s worth it to me to have use of the sensor. Freestyle replaced the wasted sensors. I had a reader which was inconvenient to use. Nothing anyone on this feed suggested worked. It took replacing the phone.

I just want to say that rebooting and plugging in did not help.

I tried it on my husband’s phone and it worked. I had to get a new phone. Something caused the app on the old phone to stop working. have you worn it during a procedure like a ct scan etc? Have you had a tight cuff put on for blood pressure? Maybe something like that did it. It states to remove before any procedures.

Deleting and reinstalling the app did not work. I called Abbott & Apple. Neither place knew what was wrong.

I’m using the FreeStyle Libre 14-day sensor, and haven’t been able to scan a sensor with my iPhone since February 22, 2021 ( so, about three weeks).

I had installed a new sensor a couple of days before; it worked for a few days, but wouldn’t respond at all thereafter (no response to scans, no error messages, nothing).

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I’ve restarted my iPhone. I brought my iPhone in for service and got the battery replaced; I asked about the NFC antenna, and was told the diagnostic routine found no issues with it. I upgraded from iOS 14.4 to 14.4.1.

None of this changed anything. Since the first sensor failed, I’ve tried two more; neither of these were read even to initialize them.

Some people here have talked about turning the NFC function off and back on. On my iPhone 7+, I see no way to do this.

Any suggestions?

This is happening to me too.

A couple of months ago it was intermittent, it would scan sometimes and not others. No explanation why.

Now, my iPhone 12 mini won’t recognise the sensors at all. I’ve updated everything and even reset my phone.

The NFC apps don’t recognise the sensor either.

My wallet and contactless payments work though..

I have an appointment with Apple’s Genius Bar in 2 days so hopefully they can fix it or get me a new phone, I ain’t paying for a new one.
