fitness plus not finding watch

When I start a fitness workout in Fitness+ on my iPhone, it is not finding my watch. It says "Apple Watch Unavailable". Both my phone and watch have the latest software updates, the watch is unlocked and Bluetooth is on.

Hi all, Happy new year.

After 4 hours with the Apple support they could not help me resolve the issue.

What I did after that and worked is:

Unpair Apple Watch

Set up as new Apple Watch.

30 minutes later everything was up and running

Fitness + works like a charm both on my iPhone and Apple TV.

I highly suggest you do that without wasting any time finding another solution.

You don't even loose any health data. The only thing you'll have to do is re-do your notifications for the native apps and personalise your watch faces.

Hope this helps :)

I spent 1hr and 45min on the phone with Apple Support. I ended the call without a solution because they had no clue (despite their genuine efforts). So far, I've done the following to no avail:

Hard reset of the watch

Turned off watch multiple times

Unpaired watch from phone

Turned off bluetooth multiple times

Deleted fitness app from phone

Reinstalled fitness app to phone

Signed out of icloud

Disconnected bluetooth AirPods

Forgot AirPods from bluetooth settings

Turned off phone multiple times

None of these things worked for me. I have an iPhone 8+ and the second (or third?) generation of Apple Watch. Perhaps it's something to do with the software and the fact that my devices are old. I don't know, and sadly, I don't care anymore. I am so disappointed I have to walk away. 1hr and 45mins and still no one can recommend a solution... (Note: all other BT devices work just fine, Homepods, Apple TV, etc.)

I’ve using Fitness+ successfully with an Apple Watch 5, iPhone XR, and Apple TV 4th Gen (all updated to latest versions) and PowerBeats Pro until today across cycling and yoga workouts. Suddenly today, I couldn’t approve starting the Fitness+ app from my watch, and then when I finally was able to start, I lost connection and the workout abruptly ended twice. There’s a thread on Reddit speculating that it has something to do with Bluetooth headphones. Anyone hear about anything? Tried restarting everything several times.
