fitness plus not finding watch

When I start a fitness workout in Fitness+ on my iPhone, it is not finding my watch. It says "Apple Watch Unavailable". Both my phone and watch have the latest software updates, the watch is unlocked and Bluetooth is on.

Hi all, Happy new year.

After 4 hours with the Apple support they could not help me resolve the issue.

What I did after that and worked is:

Unpair Apple Watch

Set up as new Apple Watch.

30 minutes later everything was up and running

Fitness + works like a charm both on my iPhone and Apple TV.

I highly suggest you do that without wasting any time finding another solution.

You don't even loose any health data. The only thing you'll have to do is re-do your notifications for the native apps and personalise your watch faces.

Hope this helps :)

I posted about this to Twitter and was contacted directly by Apple Support. I've been in communication with them over the past few days regarding this issue. At this juncture, they do not an idea of the cause and we we are still troubleshooting. Like other people, turning devices on and off resolved my problem but only occasionally and this is not an adequate solution from Apple. Just curious do you have any other Apple devices, such as an iPad that might be on at the time when you're having problems connected your Apple Watch to Apple Fitness on your iPhone?

I am noticing the same problem and spent hours trying to overcome it, before coming here.

One thing that I have noticed, is that on my watch when I go to settings, and choose "Bluetooth", the watch is going in an infinite search loop trying to find Health Devices and regular Devices.

Shame.... because I just paid for the subscription for fitness plus and looking forward to doing some activity! I couldn't even get the videos to play at one point. Yikes!

I was able to get it to work momentarily, but the videos in the fitness plus wouldn't work. Now, nothing seems to work. I am hoping for a fix from Apple.

I did log out of iCloud and back in, but that didn't help at all. Because I am able to connect via my iPad and do my fitness from there, I think I will continue in this way. I do want a resolution and will keep my eye on these posts for anything definitive. I feel a solution will come via an update or fix from Apple.

I may have to assemble all of my devices and log out of Apple on each of them!!!! I may just turn off every device that I have and bring each one back up one at a time to see if that clears out the issue or help me identify if it is a device or something within iCloud.

Same here. Watch will not connect to fitness+ on my phone even after multiple restarts of both. It will work with my iPad though. Though I don’t want to use my iPad all the time. And I sure as heck am not gonna delete all of my information and re-sync my watch just to use the Apple fitness that should work in the first place. I’ll just use peloton because I know that works 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, same issue here. I get the prompt to connect on my watch but then it just spins for a long time. I tried hitting cancel on my watch and "work out without watch" on my phone, which works for a while, but then the whole thing stops because "connection to the watch is lost".... which means the workout is done. Annoying because then you can't pick up where you left off in the workout. Way more trouble than its worth.
