After updating my iMac (2019) to Big Sur 11.1, I am unable to shut off "Do Not Disturb." The icon shows up on my top menu bar. When I go to notifications, and click on the icon for "always on" it does not respond. Nothing is checked in preferences. Is this a bug?
Boot into Safe Mode by booting with the Shift key held down and try to turn off Do Not Disturb from there. Reboot normally and test again.
NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following;
• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)
• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
• Disables user-installed fonts
• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
Wow, this works for me too. My Slack notifications would constantly stop working because Do Not Disturb would randomly turn on. The issue is still occurring on 11.2.3.
Opening the application in full screen, then putting it back to normal solves the issue of the on screen notifications not appearing.
I, too, am really bothered by this persky, always-On "Do Not Disturb".. feature (!?)

Woops! Typo on my part. I meant to say 11.2.1. Now that I read your post again, I see you are already running that version. Sorry to hear you still have issues. Try the full screen work-around.

That is a strange workaround! But will give it a try when it happens agin. Killing the notification service does worked this morning. So, I'll see if this tricks works best.

I am glad this worked for you ericincortez. I have been using this method for almost 4 months now. It consistently works. I hope the next OS update will correct this issue.
