iPhone 12 pro max doesn't charge

I recently purchased a iPhone 12 Pro and a iPhone 12 Pro Max. The Max won't charge using any of the chargers I have from my iPhone X but the regular 12 Pro charges just fine. Is the Max just defective? It should charge using a standard Lightning cable that charges any newer iPhone, correct? I'm not concerned with wireless or fast charging here. I just want the Max to charge using my existing cables. Thanks!

Also, it won't let me select any iPhone 12s for the device this post is related to so I had to select iPhone 11 Pro Max

I’m so happy to see someone else is having this problem! (I’m sorry it’s happening) I am having the same issue with my iPhone 12 Pro Max.. I also am having an issue that it will give me an error code stating there is water in the port and it won’t charge. This went on for over a week. I finally went to apple and they swapped the phone for me less then 24 hours ago. Now I plug the phone in and half way through the charge ...that same error pops up again! I have probably 8 different cables and chargers here. I have tried everyone of them. Even the ones in both of our cars. They range from 5W-18W chargers. I am so frustrated! Can anyone help with this ??? Don’t suggest clearing off the phone and trying it... I’ve done that twice now!

Just got my 2nd 12 pro max so far it will charge on all cords that the other phone stopped charging on! I will be back if this phone stops charging

I use Apple wireless charger with Apple USB C wall charger and can see the “lightning” on the battery and still my phone does not charge.

But try plugging your charger directly in a wall outlet, not an extension cord

The problem is, is I put my 12 on charge when I go to bed. I check to make sure it’s charging. But then almost invariably it quits charging during the night.

My Phone 12 Pro Max is having the same issue. I have owned the phone for 1 month. It will not charge at all.

This is 100% accurate. If I use old cable with IPhone 12, it won’t charge, but will with iPhone XS.

So they must have changed the electronics to sell more cables.

With my 12 Pro Max, I find that a new non-Apple will work on one side and then turning it over will work for a while and then quit. I don’t know why they behave that way.
