Can't cast via Airplay from M1 MacBook Pro

Guys submit your feedback here  https://apple.com/feedback/. Apple should know this m1 chip issue and need to fix it as top priority. Otherwise it will never to solved. they dont care and start building m2 chips..

I also recently purchased the M1 MacBook Pro. I have a 2020 Sony with built in Airplay. I also have two other MacBook Pros, a 2014 and 2015, both Intel processors. Those two MacBooks mirror onto the tv, but the M1 MacBook Pro does not. Please figure this out so I can use my newer MacBook to airplay.

My Sony Bravia works with two older Macbook Airs both running Big Sur 11.2.

It even works from my wife's late model iMac running Big Sur 11.2 from another room!

It just does not work with my new M1 MBA.

The problem is with the M1 for sure. Hopefully 11.3 will fix it.

I followed a Google link to the Apple Developer Forum where someone stated that Apple knows about our M1 issue.

I am hoping that MacOS 11.3 will address it.

It amazes me that Apple does not post here...

Read my post above. It works fine with my wife's Intel MacAir running Big Sur.

Pretty much narrows it down to the M1 implementation.

Airplay still not fixed in Big Sur 11.3 Beta 2.

Sound only with a black screen.

Bug report sent as was previously for Beta 1.

Agreed it is an M1 problem. I posted so that Apple know there is a bigger problem and hopefully they will fix it. One of the reasons for for buying the Mac is to use AirPlay in meetings to share spread sheets and plans. I did read on reddit somewhere that Apple was no longer supporting AirPlay to TV's. That seemed so crazy that I just wrote it off as reddit rantings. (I hope it's just reddit rants.)

Having same problem. MacBook Air M1 to Sony Bravia 2020. Sound with black screen. Hours on phone with Apple support with no luck. Very disappointed. Hope that they will fix this soon. My 1st Mac...not impressed so far.

Running into the same issue here as well. Tested with both a MacBook Pro M1 chip as well as a MacBook Air w/ M1 chip. Both devices show the Airplay device, click to connect, enter the code, aspect ratio changes on the Mac, and you see a black screen on the TV. It shows it is connected via AirPlay, but nothing is ever shown on the TV. The TV is a Sony - 85" Class X800H Series LED 4K UHD Smart Android TV. Model number XBR85X800H.

I'm also experiencing this after 1 successful attempt with connecting my m1 MBA to my Roku streaming stick+. Only 1 successful connection the first time and then every time after that that MBA does not recognize available device

Still having the problem with airplay after Big Sur 11.2 update. AirPlay connects to the TV, plays sound, but the screen is black. Every other Apple device works just fine, except the MBP M1.

Same as most on here...new 2020 MacBook Air M1 Chip and a Sony 2020 Bravia, get the black screen on the tele when trying to mirror/airplay.

It has worked however on my old Apple TV box that's plugged in via HDMI to my Sony 2017 Bravia in the bedroom.

is apple support looking forum to solve this..otherwise whats the point of writting here. they need to fix this ****. we are buying tv based on their support with apple homekit feature. now if there m1 chips not supporting what is point of having that feature on tv and buy the premium priced macs. wake up apple and fix this.

Same here. Works perfect with MacBook Air or other devices including iPhone 12 but

I bought Pro as I used to work with TV and was happy with Air...but this is just bad...

I have this exact same issue with M1 MacAir and 2020 Sony Bravia TV.

My wife's Intel MacAir with Big Sur works perectly to the same TV.
