Can't cast via Airplay from M1 MacBook Pro

I recently purchased an M1 MacBook Pro. I also have a 2020 Sony OLED TV with built in Airplay. I have never had a problem casting to the TV via my 2015 MacBook Air. I was successful connecting the M1 Pro, but the screen remains black. It also doesn't show that it's optimized for the Sony TV as it does for the Air. As a side note, I have an Amazon Firestick with a 3rd party version of Airplay on it and it works fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good news. Today Sony pushed out a firmware update to my 2020 Bravia x900H and now my M1 works. I have both video and sound.

I am guessing that Apple worked with them. Hopefully other brands will work soon...

I am on 11.3 Beta2.

I have a 2020 Sony LED TV with Airplay - only my M1 MacBook Pro doesn’t screen mirror - my 2017 MacBook Pro (Intel) and my iPhone have no issue.

Not yet. My guess is that either Apple or Sony will need to produce an update.

Does anyone know if Apple actually reads thee posts or is this just a "self-managed" help desk?

Same issue here. M1 MBA. My 2019 MBP works perfectly when mirroring to my Sony 4K television....Please Apple fix this!

Cant share my screen from my macbook air M1 to my apple tv

I can share screen to my samsung tv
I can share video from youtube to my apple tv
I have checked all recommendations but no difference.

Have the same issue. MacBook Pro M1 Big Sur 11.2 trying to connect with a Sony XH9505.

Could connect with the Intelchip varian of MacBook Pro.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Tonight I updated to 11.2.1 which did not fix the black screen I get when using Airplay to my Sony 2020 TV.

Fingers crossed for 11.3.

Great. Means Sony is also working on this. No update released for India till now. Hopefully Sony will release it soon

My M1 MacBook Air has the same issue with my Sony Bravia X900H TV -- the TV screen is black when connected to AirPlay. My TV's firmware is completely up-to-date, as is my MacBook. Very frustrating.
