Sleep App Bug - Watch Keeps Going into Sleep Mode during the Wrong Time of the Day

My Apple Watch 3 keeps going into Sleep Mode at the wrong time ever since I upgraded to Watch OS 7. I have a sleep schedule correctly set up on my Health App to begin at 10:00 pm and end at 5:30 am on weekdays. It works correctly on my iPhone and it worked correctly on my watch until I upgraded to Watch OS 7.0. Starting with Watch OS 7.0, my watch incorrectly goes into Sleep Mode (watch face is dimmed, I have to press and spin the crown button to get my watch to wake up) during daytime hours (e.g. between 5:30 am and 10:00 pm). I had to turn off Sleep Mode on my watch completely because it was driving me crazy having to manually wake up my watch every time I want to do a workout, or check the time, or heaven forbid, actually get a notification. Now that I have updated to Watch OS 7.2, the bug is back. My Sleep Schedule is correctly set in the Health app on my iPhone to begin at 10:00 pm on weekdays and turn off at 5:30 am on weekdays, but once again, my watch is incorrectly in Sleep Mode on weekdays between 5:30 am and 10:00 pm. I only have that weekday sleep schedule set, so I can rule out any sleep schedule conflicts. I don't want to turn off the Sleep Schedule in the Sleep App on my watch because it tells me my alarm won't activate on my watch if I do. I don't want to turn off my Sleep Schedule on my phone. This is utterly maddening. It's 5:00 pm and my watch face shows that it's in Sleep Mode! The time and time zone are correct on my iPhone, so that's not the problem. Anyone else experiencing this bug and figured out how to fix it?

I just added a reply below. See my reply to jstuckey5434's comment below. I think that will "fix" the problem for you.

I have the same problem on my iPhone, running iOS 14.3, and now 14.4. My Do Not Disturb is set to turn off at 10am, my Sleep Schedule is set to turn off at 6am. I turn off the Do Not Disturb around 8am, phone says Good Morning. All good. I come back to my phone hours later and it says Good Morning again on a blank screen. A few hours later it says Good Afternoon on a blank screen. This morning it showed a tiny message saying that it was on Sleep mode until 1pm. What the heck!?! I checked all my settings, no such time set. Incredibly irritating to not be able to see messages when I check my phone.

Do not disturb was also on in my settings. Turning off fixed the problem. However, I had already deleted my sleep schedule and even deleted the sleep app (finding it again was a mission in itself: app store on phone > and message the app to yourself (really!). As I'd not been into my settings before this strangeness happened, I can't understand how it would 'accidentally' happen. It has to be a bug as there have been a lot of upgrades of late. Now, reschedule my sleep schedule!

My Apple Watch does the same thing! I have an SE GPS only watch running watch OS 7.2 and an iPhone 8 Plus running iOS 14.2. Today both devices went into sleep mode during the middle of the day for no apparent reason. I have set my sleep/bedtime timer to start at 10:00pm and finish at 6:00am. But without any changes to my sleep schedule the watch and my iPhone both went into sleep mode. The usual ‘Do not disturb while sleeping’ notification appeared on my iPhone, with both devices going into sleep mode during the middle of the day.

I’ve tried turning off the Sleep Schedule on my iPhone, I’ve also powered off the iPhone & the Apple Watch. But when I re-start them, both devices go back into sleep mode.

This is very frustrating.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

"Do Not Disturb" wasn't an issue for my watch.

In the Apple Watch app on my phone, I selected "Sleep" and under "Sleep Mode," I toggled "Turn On Automatically" to "off," and that seems to have "fixed" the bug. You can also go into the Health app on your phone, and touch the "Browse" icon at the bottom of the screen, select "Sleep" from the list of Health Categories, select "Full Schedule & Options" > Options > Sleep Mode and toggle the button off next to "Turn On Automatically."

This is definitely a bug, because if I toggle Sleep Mode to turn on automatically, my watch will go into sleep mode again during the middle of the day, even though my sleep schedule correctly set for late at night to early morning. Super annoying.
