How can I use Automator to open and close an applicaiton once per day?
Quicken is a great program but the Mac Version will not update stock prices, and keep a daily record of my portfolio value unless I open the application. (It will do that in Windows.)
So once a day, I have to open it and close it.
Can I do this in Automator? I'm going to date myself, but I still call these Macros.
So this has to be triggered automatically at a time I select.
It will search <cmd-space> for Quicken and open it. <enter>
When prompted (do I just have it type the password, or to look for the prompt?) it will type my password then hit the continue button.
Then it will close Quicken (Quicken Menu/Close Quicken)
I know enough about "Macros" to be aware that I may need to have it wait for a prompt before typing the password, and I may need to experiment if <ENTER> works instead of hitting the Continue icon.
The terminology in Automator is foreign to me. I usually need to learn something like this by seeing someone create a script, saving and running it then adapting it.
I have heard there are libraries of scripts for Automator.
Can anyone advise me how to create this script and where I might find other useful scripts? I would be open to using Alfred or something else if it is better.
